THE REAL VICTIMS OF WAR

If you want to see the real victims of war take a look in the eyes of the children. You can see the terror in their eyes. Watch as they flinch or duck at a sudden noise. You can see it as they sit in a corner shaking, because of fear. Take a walk down a hospital ward and see the broken bodies of the most defenseless of society. There are many who will never live normal lives. The doctors and medical staffs will try to save them, but even if they live, many of them are doomed to a life of poverty and squalor.

All the adults who are there, are there by their on choice. Whether it is as soldiers, or civilians they have made a choice somewhere along the line to be there.

I do think that we had to do something, I just hope that we can somehow make things better for the real victims of this and all wars.

Good post. This is something that we need to keep on our minds.

However, I don't agree that "all the adults who are there, are there by their on choice." Many of them would have chosen to be long gone if they had the means.

Wholeheartedly agree.

I had a long in depth conversation with my own children this evening about war - about things that are wrong in the world and I jostled their minds to think NOT ABOUT HATING but about what we can possibly do TO HELP.

My daughters asked questions about oil and what will we do when it is all gone... they asked me about how they should react to those that HATE THEM regardless of the fact that these people have never even met them.... they asked about why it is that sometimes we stand up for what is right and why other times we, as a nation fall silent and let the wrongs continue... they asked how it is that we, as the US can honestly believe that WE are the center of the universe superior TO THE REST OF THE WORLD.

I didn't have answers to a lot of their questions. But I am very pleased that they ARE THINKING and not afraid to question. Perhaps one day one of OUR CHILDREN might come to an answer to any one of these questions that we as adults do not have the capability to answer.

Is that supposed to be humorous?

I have a co-worker who is from pakistan. he was 10 years old and in Kuwait when Saddam attacked.

He says that he was so terrified, that to this day, everytime he hears thunder or lightning...a loud crash....etc...he gets chills up his spine.

Its really sad to hear the psycological effects that war has on children.

But then again....they are just collateral damage right :( :( :(

Worth quoting...

Fssssaw.... how about the fact that the McD's down the corner got rid of the double cheeseburger off their 1$ value menu??? Now we are talking victims.
