The PlayStation 2 Hard Drive

Is the PlayStation 2 Hard Drive out where you are? If anybody has one, what is it like?
In the UK nobody has any idea when it's coming out.

Any feedback at all on this would be most welcome......

The only game that uses it right now is Final Fantasy XI.

So it is out then!? I wish SCEE would hurry up and bring it out over here. Memory cards cost £20 over here and the drive'd only be about £20 more and you'd only have to buy it once!

Over here FFXI and the 40gig hard drive come in a bundle and run about $100.00.

I don't think we're going to get it over here, surely it'd be out by now if it was ever going to be. Mind you, it's not going to fit the new one, so is it end of story!?

I never thought about that sounds like a doomed creation for a console like the N64 Disk Drive.

Yup, you've got it! Sony will never produce a European version of the Hard Drive!

with a mod chip you can load games it so that's at least a bit cool. Resident Evil Outbreak loads faster making it a playable game with the hard drive but that's not enough to make the average person buy it.

My feeling is that they're saving a hard drive for PS3, with maybe the possibility of being able to still use PS2 memory cards for the sake of backwards compatibility.
