The one true statement at last night's GOP convention:

Mr. dB

StopLyin Ryan and Ain'tShit Mitt serving up the koolaid now.

Compare obamas qualifications to mitts lol
A CEO has a board of directors totaling maybe 7-18, some of which he picked. A President has a board of 535, half of whom are there to make sure nothing he does works.

Im sure the irony was lost on them, but Clint Eastwood talking to that empty chair was the perfect representation of the GOP platform: an old dude complaining about a completely fictitious president.

Cant leave out those good for nothing old white guys! What have they ever done for america right? lolololloo

The GOP is accustomed to taking their marching orders from a senile actor, so this is nothing new.

Dems want to steal your freedoms and limit liberty. Repubs want the opposite

I believe in their heart of hearts, even the dems realize Romney is more qualified and will be a better leader.

yeah i don't think so dude. Just taking a wild swing at that one and i really think that is a 100% woefully inaccurate statement. Pretty much no base in our common reality whatsoever. But maybe you speak of dems from antoher dimension perhaps?

that's actually from the 2 yrs that the democrats controlled the senate, congress and executive brances..

how much money does your children owe of that?? oh wait, they probably won't amount to the 48% of us that will pay taxes over the next 20 yrs...

but at least the 2 mules and 40 acres were paid for right??

sand oil is the future, and buy gold and guns bitches..

hahahaha

joe biden for president..

Funny how you can say something so dumb and make fun of Biden at the same time.

Increase in Debt is due to:

Bush Great recession causing a loss of revenue
Bush unfunded tax cuts
Bush unfunded war in Iraq
Bush unfunded war in Afganistan
Bush bank bail out.
Obama stimulus (which was necessary and saved the economy)

Now you can see why blaming Bush isn't just an excuse, its where the blame belongs. The 2 years of dem control, what debt was accrued then? Stimulus funds and that's about it. Obama's first year in office the debt went up 1.4 trillion which the CBO predicted while Bush was still in office. You can't blame Obama if it was on the books before he even had his first day in office.
Get the facts. The Republicans were a disaster for the economy, and will be again if they get the chance.

The CBO predicted it because it's entitlement spending that's driving the debt (medicare, medicaid, social security).
I'll give you two unfunded wars didn't help nor the Bush unfunded drug entitlement to seniors, might as well lump that with medicare because it's so underfunded it might as well be unfunded.

For the record, it was the Barry/Bush bailout of the banks because both candidates, Barry and grandpa monster, made a sideshow of their support. The Bush tax cuts should be called the Barry tax cuts for the rich because he signed them into law.

Finally, if you want to blame Bush for the housing bubble then you need to provide some evidence. If you're claiming it was a lack of regulation; Slick Willy signed the repeal of Glass-Steagal into law. How about the Fed using open market operations to keep interest rates at historical lows since 2001? People respond to incentives, free money and the collapse of returns on traditional investment vehicles (US bonds and the stock market) created mortgage backed securities to take advantage of the exploding real estate market. Government and pseudo government policies created the economic crisis, not shrub. He was too focused on waging war for Jesus.

Don't edit my posts; it makes me look like I have bad grammar skills.

The banking industry is the most regulated industry in the United States but every administration has bailed them out because they're working under a magical protection shell where profits are private and losses are socialized. It's about time we have a free market where profit and loss have consequences.

clinton is at least partially responsible for...

corporate malfeasance (didn't spend enough on oversight)

the crash of the housing market (no-doc loans)

the war in the middle east (didn't spend enough on military and intgelligence and ignored warnings, but did fire a few tomahawks into the hornet's nest to get shit stirred up)

Don't get where you are going with that one

the crash of the housing market (no-doc loans)

The housing market crashed, what 7 years after Clinton was gone? You guys can really really reach sometimes to protect the beloved Bush.
Although I admit bank oversight has been lacking and too low of a priority by both parties, at least some dems understand the need for it, while Repubs think giving banksters free reign is what is best (!?)

the war in the middle east (didn't spend enough on military and intgelligence and ignored warnings, but did fire a few tomahawks into the hornet's nest to get shit stirred up)

So Clinton increased the debt by NOT starting a war? Have you seen the price of wars lately?
It sounds like Romney is ready to kill people in Iran. Lets see how that helps the debt if he ever gets the chance to start that war.
The talking point doesn't fly anyway. Bush got the intelligence on Bin Laden and ignored it. Then he dismantled the CIA group working on Bin Laden.
And you can't blame Clinton for Iraq because we never needed to go to Iraq. That was Bush's blunder alone. I couldn't even imagine any other President in that position making such a stupid decision.

no-doc loans were the catalyst that caused the housing market to sprial upward, out of control, to unsustainable heights...and then the market crashed...because people were paying too much for houses and because people that couldn't afford a house were given loans with NO DOCUMENTATION...the no-doc loan was a product of the clinton administration...check me...i'm right.

and for the record?? i think both parties suck cock. i bow to neither. how 'bout you??

I agree. I disagree with both parties. That said, voting for some 3rd party is useless. Therefore I'm going to determine my vote based on whomever irritates me the most on Facebook with their bullshit posts and personally cancel that persons vote by voting opposite.

This article should be required reading: The Five Reasons Why Romney/Ryan Must be Defeated in 2012 ? And Why Conservatives Should Hope They Are. | Kurt Eichenwald

As a conservative, the following paragraph sums up my frustrations with the modern GOP perfectly:

Now, as I said, I have been just as likely to vote for Republicans in the past as I have been for Democrats, and just because I am focusing on the GOP doesn’t mean I couldn’t write a piece criticizing some of Obama’s policies. But that is the difference – my critique of Obama would be based on policy. I would be starting with an understanding that we begin with the same fact base, and that facts would be what drove the discussion. I would not be compelled to address fictions, lies and delusions before addressing policy differences. That is the sign of a party that wants to govern, even if I don’t always agree with the ways they want to exercise their governing authority.

So you don't think that the financial sector's trading and speculating on all those high-risk mortgages wasn't a big factor?

So you don't think that the financial sector's trading and speculating on all those high-risk mortgages wasn't a big factor?

yeah...that was the corporate malfeasance that i referred to in my earlier post...another thing that ran amock under the clinton administration...everyone got on for the ride...then, we found out that all that prosperity that we had been enjoying was fueled by off-balance sheet-debt, or just plain falsified documents...slick willy wasn't real big on turning over rocks...unless he thought he could find a blowjob under one.

That's a pretty simplistic view of the housing bubble don't you think? I'd like to see a reference explaining how Clinton invented the no-doc loan. :)
Irresponsible lending practices were a part of the problem, for hundreds of reasons. Its almost silly to try and sum it up in a forum like this. I will say that repeal of Glass Steagal was important (Clinton signed the Republican bill). It gave to much freedom to the Banksters. The tax reform act of 1986 started the trend of people using home equity loans instead of credit cards to improve their lifestyles. It was also the Fed not overseeing banks lending practices. The fed, and the banksters, became satisfied that securitizing and repackaging mortgage debt was sufficient security for the money regardless of qualifications of the borrower.
Making home buying easier was an objective of Reagan, Clinton and Bush. The increase in demand spiked prices. The banks were irresponsible and thought they could get away with lending to everyone. Irresponsible lending (lending greater than loan to value etc) didn't really take off until 2003-2005. Blaming Clinton is not a part of the history, its part of the RNC talking points.

and for the record?? i think both parties suck cock. i bow to neither. how 'bout you??

I don't think you bow to a party, but I think your point of view is biased. I would say the same about myself. The only difference between you  and me:verygood:, is that you lean more to the side of evil.
:laugh2:

Damn corporations. Spoken like a true liberal!

So I take it you are all in favor of tightening down regulations of Wall Street?

Bla ba dee bla bla bla

There were no scandals bigger than Enron in 2002, but even I'm not partisan enough to blame George Bush for something that Enron did.

Wikipedia has a list of accounting scandals. I see a lot more listed during the Bush years, but no matter.
Accounting scandals - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I haven't heard such bitterness and misdirected blame toward Bill Clinton since, well, the last time I listened to that bloated drug addict on the radio.

Your pattern is becoming clear. You pick out isolated moments in history and use them to draw broad misleading conclusions. I think that's called propaganda. Pretty weird for a guy who doesn't "bow to either party".

Edit: you don't need to go to Wikipedia, look at your own list! Almost all the items on your list are after Clinton left office. But you probably know that. Just like Clinton caused bankers to lend money without proper credit in 2005, he caused accountants to lie as well. LOL on you.

Great quote 75th. You are right, that sums it up.

"Corporations are people, my friend."

Mitt Romney

Just like unions and media outlets like Fox and MSNBC are "people" when it comes to government regulation. Citizens United simply affirmed that government has limited ability to silence anyone. Mass media corporations have always had unrestricted speech, what is the difference between Fox News and MSNBC promoting an agenda while a coal company can't explain their position on coal with ads supporting a candidate?

the major corporate frauds and defalcations all took place while he was in office...of course many of them weren't discovered until after he left office...you don't think that those things were discovered the day that they started happening do you??? if they had been, we would have averted many of the disaster(s) that we are still dealing with today. the powers that be were asleep at the wheel under slick willy...like i said, he wasn't real big on turning over rocks, unless he thought he'd find a blowjob under one of them...trust me...i've turned over a lot of rocks looking for blowjobs...fortunately, no one was ever stupid enough to give me the keys to the bus.

clinton sucked...and all the "prosperity" that we enjoyed while he was in office was fake...the value that everyone lost in their houses and in their 401k plans was nothing but air...and someone stuck a pin in the balloon and it deflated...the sad thing is? he knew it was going to happen and he figured he'd just blame it on the next guy...because he knows that most americans (not pointing fingers) have really short memories.

and, yes, clinton gave the bankers the tools that they needed to lend money without proper credit or even a job! do you know how many homes were repossessed from illegal aliens during the mortgage crisis? a shitload (technical accounting term).

yup...i use wikipedia...so what? it's quick and easy and relatively accurate...and...you knew EXACTLY where to go to look for the source of my information, mr. smartypants...so don't get all holier-than-thou with me! :lmao:

:FRlol: Settle down!

I posted to you in the government motors thread. Consider what I wrote.

Think about your anger. Someone is making you feel that way, and its not Obama. There are some really powerful rich people in America who have a single minded desire for more power. They know that their success depends on instilling fear and anger into the masses. In this way they will convince average people to vote against their own interests and support the will of the elite.

So they lie. And you fell for it. For example, there is no threat on your right to bear arms. There never was. In fact your second ammendment rights are more secure than they ever have been in history, thanks to some recent supreme court rulings. But the liars keep putting out that message. Be scared. They are coming for your guns. Who? The socialists!

Beware of the liars.

"I stand by what I said. Whatever it was."

Mitt Romney.

Hi there.

What freedoms do you not have now that you had 4 years ago?

PS Obama has actually expanded a persons right to bear arms (ie allowed them on trains and in public parks).

Well, the Patriot Act was renewed which simply extended government authority but it ain't new so you got me there. I will longer have the right to choose whether or not to have health insurance without a penalty. Likewise, my representatives didn't have the right to vote on wars in Libya and Yemen as the Constitution mandates which infringes on my voting rights.

Mitt Romney.

i'm not worried about anyone taking my guns...i am an avid outdoorsman (well, i was before i went and had a bunch of kids :lmao: ) and, i've never felt that my legal ownership of a firearm has been threatened...that said, i don't own any assualt weapons and i don't see a need for an average consumer to own one...i've shot some...they're fun...i've even shot a few fully-automatic machine guns...BIG FUN...but, i can't imagine any reason that i'd ever want to own one and, if i never had a chance to shoot one again, i wouldn't feel like my life had any less meaning.

dont' take this personal digi, but you shouldn't have even been allowed in the same area code as those weapons without military training. No one should. When you can accurately shoot a firearm with your heart rate doing near 200, then you've proven basic competency with a firearm. That should be the weeder. You want a machine gun? Go get military style training so you can show up for a test, run an obstacle course not unlike a vicious wipeout setup....then when your'e done you have to "immediately" fire something with military grade precision. That's what the military guys have to go through to operate those arms, it should be no less for us and even more because we're taking them home where those guys leave em on base.

yeah...that's what i was kinda saying...i can't see any reason why a regular consumer should have the option of purchasing an assualt weapon let alone a machine gun...they really are fun to shoot, though...wow! but, if i never shot one again? eh, whatever...i don't care...my life is no less fulfilled.

that said i currently own a kick ass air rifle (and i've owned a number of others over the years) and they're no less worthless than an assault rifle...i mean, there's nothing that you can do with them legally, other than target practice...the biggest difference is that i'm not gonna take out the county court house with my pellet gun.
