State taxes going up 75%. Corporate taxes going up 50%. We already have an 11% sales tax.

But god forbid they increase taxes on a pack of cigarettes by $1...so they voted against that.

No decreases in spending, either.

I was in St Louis yesterday for work and the thought crossed my mind of having my wife and dogs FedEx'd down there same day. Then I realized I would have had to live in Missouri.

Union Workers are up to 60% for state and federal employees vs 11% for private enterprise. Cool thing is they get to donate money and elect their employers that they are negotiating contracts with.

California spent $3.5 million dollars to try and get rid of 11 teachers. Had to settle for 5. FIVE!!!

There are very few States that get this and they are going to be over-run with the mass exodus from Illinois, California, New York etc.

I don't know what there is to debate. It's a massive problem. States will either have to clean this up or go bankrupt.

More taxes aren't the solution.

My brother lives in KC. Always complaining about taxes. Not just income but personal property tax. I am sure it is better than Illinois - soon to be our first socialist state.

Tennessee is a great place to live in terms of taxes and cost of living.

Everyone thinks of Appalachian rednecks, but we've still got the highest concentration of Ph.D. in the world in Oak Ridge. Sure that guy might be pulling a trailer with two dirt bikes on it, but he may also have a Ph.D. in theoretical physics and smash neutrons for a living.

"F" Chicago! I blame it all on them. It's a fun place to party, but that's it. Like you said, heaven forbid they increase the tax on smokes, it'll "hurt the poor" as listed why most voted against it. Maybe if they're poor they shouldn't be smoking so it's their own fault. AND, maybe it they'd allow a true blue casino to open up, they wouldn't have to take more of my income from me.
