The Official BiggT Camera Fund Thread

Cynical Simian

New member
Since it's not really reasonable to expect BiggT to bear the full cost of a video camera that he otherwise wouldn't buy just so he can record stuff for a bunch of his internet buddies, I propose that we make it economical through subsidization. IMO, the easiest and quickest way to send money would be PayPal, although this assumes that, in the age of eBay, everyone, most importantly T, has a PayPal account. If people have other suggestions for money transfer (e.g. WU, account-to-account), those could potentially be used instead of or in addition to PayPal.

The only potential issue I see with this is that, since PayPal accounts use one's real name, it could conflict with one of the most valued aspects of some internet use, anonymity. There are probably various byzantine ways we could arrange the payment structure to minimize the concentration of real names in any one person's hands, although something as simple as a standard payment amount would make it much harder to link specific contributions to names. I have no clue what T would do with such a list, which neither he nor anyone else would be able to match to usenames with certainty, but it could be an issue for some.

Anyway, just post in this thread if you have any suggestions for how to do this or are interested in making a contribution to the T Camera (and rechargeable batteries ;)) Fund. The amount will depend on how many people express interest and which camera we think would be adequate. Off the top of my head, $10 USD seems pretty reasonable, especially since, as I said in T's thread, we'd essentially be buying an open-ended video version of Starting Strength.

Two places to look for cameras (calling all camera experts for recommendations):
http://www.ebay.com/
http://www.newegg.com/

Another assumption I've made is that T would be willing to record stuff if he had a camera...if this is incorrect, just, uh, forget that I ever started this thread. :p

Thanks for the thread, lol.....I can probably foot the cost of a camera if it'd be spmething people would be interested in legitimately, lol....if you find me a link to anything reasonable on ebay or something send it to me, I'd feel bad taking a donation.....but definitely forward along a link to something something reasonably priced and I should be do-able.

I'd chip in a few bucks for this good bro. Someone do some research and find a good reasonabyl priced camera that can do decent vids for posting.

I think on amazon.com, you can set up something where folks can donate. I don't know what it's called but Dan John has something like that set up on his website. You click the link and it takes you to amazon whre you can donate money if you want. It may be called the honor system or something. It'd be one way to set this up.

lol....just find me a link to an affordable one, and I will swing it if there is really a big interest.....seriously, I couldn't accept donations in good conscious for something I could afford by just sucking it up and forking it over, lol.....now....if we take up a collection for an Elieko weight set for BiggT, I'd gladly accept, lol.

Well, I'd feel bad if you had to pay for the whole thing yourself. :p Like I (and you) said, people have an interest in this, not just in the sense of being entertained, but also a personal interest because a good video can help so much with learning and refining form on a lift (insert platitude about picture-word exchange rate here). There's no reason you should have to "suck it up" and take a few hundred dollars out of your milk budget when the cost could be diffused among the beneficiaries and, for each individual, be almost trivial.

The only info you have to post to be sent money via PayPal is an email address. So you might even be able to create a new one, say, [email protected], if you don't want to post an address you want to stay spam-free on an open forum (or just use PMs to give out the address).

Even if you've already posted in T's journal saying that you might be interested in this, please post here as well. Thanks. :)

I don't make too many posts, but I HAVE TO post in support of BiggT videos! He is easily one of my favorite posters here. Do it!

All we need is an email address from Mr. T.

LOL!

T, if you can't accept the aid guilt-free, I consider the issue closed and apologize for putting you in an uncomfortable spot.

If you decide to buy a camera at some point, the link tay posted above looks like a better deal than anything I've been able to find on eBay or newegg (including the same model on those sites). As I said in the first post, input from digital camcorder experts/owners would be appreciated, since I'm certainly not one.

Well, BiggT probably has a busy life like the rest of us, so I wouldn't want to make him feel obligated.

However if he decides to post some videos I'd certainly be interested. As I said in his log, I'm another who finds his training methods very educational.

Good idea, CS, whatever comes of this.

trend starter!

so does it matter if the serial number is scratch off this camera? lol
