The Mars Volta. Mark my words.

Remember when Van Halen opened for Black Sabbath and went on to dominate them in the rock world?

Well The Mars Volta is finishing up a tour with A Perfect Circle, and they just announced one LA show last week and it sold out in just a couple of minutes.

$25 face value tickets are now being scalped for over $100 each. This band has a huge underground following building, I say underground because they are not on much mainstream radio or MTV (They have done a video that has aired on MTV2 though).

buckcherry went through that same phase and craze and it bombed big time too.

ditto for weezer and audioslave.

whenever a band gets "next big thing" attached to them. it's almost like a death knell.

Uh... i know half the band personally, seen them numerous times.. up to about 2-3 yrs ago... they are the guys from at the drive in. Check out the story behind their lyrics... pretty crazy shit. I'll entice you: involves suicide, coma's, and more suicide. PS, they are indie as hell and I doubt they're interested in being "BIG" PS2, there are many bands with much larger "underground followings"
Get on the scene, like a sex machine...

Speaking of which, I heard GNR is back in the studio....

... Cleaning it!

Mars is from El Paso, been hearing their style for the last 3 years, they also do some dub pieces believe it or not, a friend of mine has been on their dizzle for the last 2 years, nothing special.

I thought it was going to be 30 seconds to mars, but I guess I was wrong on that one.

I listened to a few volta tracks..didn;t care for what i heard really.

You've really got to see them live to get the real effect.

Bon Jovi is a good band too:) they will be the next big band:) The lead singer, i forget his name..jon something or other is a cutie too

NO band can ever "make it" without getting signed to a big label.

Yes, the big record guys control THAT much of the media and the distribution. Only band that did it was Phish. And that's only cuz of the aging hippies who need a new band to listen to besides Grateful Dead.
