The new Mustang

Today, I was watching ESPN coverage of a major international auto show in Detroit. I got my first glimpse of what the next major revision of Ford's Mustang will look like. I was really impressed. This thing looks almost beautiful...compared to the last 2 updates (which sucked). Aesthetically, I've never been a fan of the Mustang...until now, that is. And it seems the new car will offer a shitload of power too.

Unfortunately most of the features will be reserved for the Cobra. I still dream about getting this car though.

"The word is that the production 2005 Mustang looks very similar to the concept cars with the following exceptions. There will be no hood scoops on the V-6 or GT models. The 2006 Cobra may get functional hood scoops. The production version will seat four. The side scoop won't be a scoop at all; it will be a scallop, and fully integrated into the side stamping. The roof will be standard stamped steel--no glass. The quarter panel will have glass instead of body colored insert--rear visibility would've been awful. The convertible won't get the rollbar, and the windshield will be taller. The taillights won't be as wide, and they will have a tri-cell design like 1999-2004 taillights. They will flash sequentially. The concept cars have 20" wheels, but these will only be offered on Cobras. The base model will have 16" wheels and GTs will have 18" wheels. The fuel door won't be on the back like on the concepts, but there will be a Mustang logo there. The fuel door will be on the side, and it won't be aluminum alloy."

When I saw that pic I actually remarked out loud, OOOOH, NICE CAR!

I really do think it looks nice. Never been a big Mustang fan, but it does look nice.

I like the fastabck look, and I like the fact that they are putting glass in teh 1/4 panels too.

I like the aggressive font tilt to the headlight hoods. It looks a lot like the new Z adn I bet it's cheaper!

they need to completely discard the interior design and start from scratch...

ford can't make a decent interior for shit.

Coveritibles are from $25 grand for the V6 to $40 grand for The Cobra right now.

I think pricing will stay the same when these new ones come out.

This will definitely force GM to put the Camaro back in production.

better than the last few make overs; but NOTHING will generate the head turns, double/tripple takes as does the origional, first generation mustang.

i have owned a LOT of attractive vehiles, but none have generated the comment and attention that my '66 mustang does.

I'm a mustang freak. I've owned several. I will be the first on the list for the new cobra for sure. It is sweet.

Cars like that dont hold the same awe as they used to. Look at vettes....they are like a dime a dozen now a days. The prices may be hire than they used to be, but its not like its that exciting to see one. Same thing with most cars. I cant see the cars of today being as respected as the old classics are when they are that old.

I hate Mustangs but I must admit that thing is looking pretty hot.

Funny, I like Mustangs for the most part and I think that one looks like shit.

I'm sorry, but you can't remake a GT Shelby and modernize it for aerodynamics and make it look anything like the original. The original had square corners, and that's the way it should look.

Round is good, on women...muscle cars should be square.
