I signed a rent contract for a year starting september 1 2004.
Today I received a list of the rules of coöperative inhabitance there.
1. Keys
Every renter receives one front door key and one key for his room. these may not be copied or given to third parties under any circumstance and no visitor is allowed in the building when the renter is not present.
2. Room
Except for the renter himself nobody is allowed to spend the night in the room. In the price the costs of only one person are included. Should somebody spend the night by exception, I wish to be notified of this beforehand and I must receive 10 euro's per night per person.
No visit may last longer than 23 hours, or include more than 2 visitors.
3. Kitchen
Only the renters have access to the kitchen. visitors are not to enter, neither may renters cook for a visitor. Dishes are to be washed immediately after every meal.
4. Shower
Only the renters have access to the shower. no visitor may use the shower facility. Do not warm up the bathroom prior to using it, it will be well warm enough if you turn on the heat when you go in.
5. Furniture
The rooms are completely provided with furniture, bringing in or replacing furniture damages the narrow staircase, is unnecessary and prohibited.
No holes may be drilled in the room's walls.
Somebody doesn't want their renters to get laid.
There are many more rules, but these are the only ones that don't speak for themselves and are to be expected in any house.
I do not regret signing, its still a sweet deal, the furniture thing is true these rooms are cool as they are. I only pay 250 a month, all-in, no further expenses and I'm in the center of the town center.
Do all landlords for students say this shit?
Do you think these rules are flexible?
Do you think the other renters ever break them?
