The Gym...

b fold the truth

Elite Strongman

The gym was the one place I had control. I didn't have to speak, I didn't have to listen. I just had to push or pull. It was so much simpler, so much more satisfying than life outside. I regulated everything, from the number of exercises I performed each workout to the amount of weight I used for each exercise, from the number of reps per set to the number of sets per body part. It beat the street. It beat my girlfriend. It beat my family. I didn't have to think. I didn't have to care. I didn't have to feel. I simply had to lift.

One of the best quotes i have every seen.

I like that book. He was a good writer, so he could articulate things like this well. The whole time I read it I was saying, "yeah...exactly!"

i can say that lifting keeps me sane. there's just something about physically exerting yourself to your body's maximum potential and having the mental strength to put yourself through it.

Too bad my sanctuary is over-run with yuppies and fat ass trainers that feel the need to tell me I dont know how to train

Still, the only problem I have is not having the ability to train nonstop. If I could do one thing all day, that would be it. I dread the end of my workout. I'm like "No, I don't want it to end!".

wow. . .

I too wish my workouts didn't have to end, they're a sort of release from school, homework, my annoying brother. . .

This actually happens?

Shows what they know ...

It does, check this out... This fat ass trainer is always going out of his way to make me look like a dick. This other guy that I've put on a program is making incredible results. He's around 40, about 6'2", and after only 3 months of training is deadlifting 3 plates a side(315) for sets of 8, and squatting 245lbs below parallel for reps. This trainer knows I taught him, so he went up to him and told him his form is all wrong, and who ever taught him didnt know what they were doing. The guy he told this to has been training for 3 months is is waaaaayyy stronger than the trainer already, and christ, I deadlift 550 for reps, I think I have an idea. But this same trainer is the same ass that gets paid to teach people how to train in only partial reps, ie, the squats he teaches are 4" dips. I'm pretty easy going but I wanna smash this twit every time I see him...

Ha! Oh man. That's gay as hell. You should ask him for a spot when you're doing heavy squats and just dump the bar on him. What a jerkoff.

I've started letting the entire gym know just how pointless he is, hopefully it'll get back to him and he'll have the balls to confront me about it

He sounds exactly like the teacher for the"gym instructor" segment of my personal trainer course.

He put 154lbs (total) on the bar for bench press. for some reason he wanted to test our strength (not related to anything in the section of the course).

I had sat at the side....i didnt want to join in (because i hate him..haha) Every one had finished so he jumps on and tries to beat everyone(he thinks he is king shit).

he strained a beautiful 6 reps out (surprisingly a lot higher than most the guys there). I almost wet my pants i couldnt stop giggling. he asked me what was so funny, and said "you better get over here and bench so we can laugh at you'

to cut a long story short he pulls the bar back into the J hooks on the 16th rep(with out letting me finish) because "the form was so terible you are going to hurt your self and put my professional career in danger"

yeah the 4" dips are pretty common with PT and gym instructors
