George Will makes some very good points in his latest column. Is American football truly devolving into bloodsport? Can it be saved? Can the sport, as it exists now, be considered compatible with American values?

George Will used to masquerade as a serious journalist. Now even the thin veneer of respectability has worn off and he's a toothless old hack. Once I got to the part where he said that MMA is "Degenerate prize fighting" I quit reading. What a waste of column inches that guy has turned into.

Meanwhile, the UFC becomes increasingly popular as it now airs on Fox networks.

The UFC is "bloodsport" and people love it.

So, how would that negatively affect football?
