The craziest bootcamp style thing ever!

WOW...6 am in the morning here is what we did...

Sprints in the sand (at the beach)
80 yds there and back 1X5 with rest periods if we missed it we ran again.
60 yds 1X5 ditto
100 yds 1X5 same

These stairs are huge and awkward...it's like at least a 10-15 min walk up from the beach to the street.
--------------------------------------
Sprint first 1/4 ... walk... sprint final 1/5th
walk down
Sprint 80 yards again.
-----------------------------------------
REPEAT 3 more times...on the last one we did 160 yds...there back twice.

Then...here comes the fun part...

50 yard bearcrawl backwards....
Then.. Tandem military pressing with a partner and a sixty second hold.
50 yard bearcrawl forwards..

Done. Good hard run...my body will thank me later.

You're not trying to increase your speed are you? If so, drop the running in the sand. If not, disregard me all together (everyone else always does :))

I thought it was the other way around...besides won;t running in the sand increase the strength of my hamstrings...i could see it having some stride shortening effect though.

Yeah...it's terrible for increasing your speed. True, it is a form of resisted sprinting, but it resists too much. The most you should resist your sprint is about 10%, that way you don't alter your form, just the stride frequency.

interesting...
never knew that. I remember a while back someone saying running in the sand increases your speed...well if it doesn;t do that it must surely strengthen your ligs and tendons b/c after 5/10/15 sprints in that stuff it was majorly chewed up and not flat as before which made it hell.

Don't run in sand. It's hazardous and will result in injury. Whosever's training you is stupid.
