The Bodybuilding Truth - ???

Hey ya'll,

I logged into my email this morning and read the email regarding that new book that was published. I will admit that I was a tad dismissive at first but the more I read down, the more curious I got. What are ya'lls opinions?

it's not new... it's been around for a long time. i wouldn't say it's really bad but to be honest most of the info can be had for free by reading these forums and asking questions.

It seems like a thread asking about this book pops up once every couple months, and, IIRC, the general opinion is that it's not worth the money. (I've never purchased/read it, so this is just a summary of what others have said about it.)

Thanks for the honest replies fellas. At the moment, I mainly read M&F but not sure if there are any better mags out there? I typically only do my reading while I'm in my Waste Management Meetings (a.k.a. taking a shit) :artist:

The only way M&F is a good choice for bathroom reading is if you're using the pages to wipe your ass (sorry, couldn't resist such a good setup). And even then it wouldn't be very useful because of the glossy pages.

As far as magazines, some guys here subscribe to Milo, but if you want training information your best bet would be to buy Mark Rippetoe's two books and just print off a bunch of free online articles, especially from madcow and Kelly Baggett's sites.

Wow, this is the first I have heard of Madcow or Kelly Baggett. Care to enlighten me as to why M&F sux so bad? I recently bought a .99 cent 2 year subscription off eBay. I'd hate knowing I wasted it :chomp:

lol, at that price it might be a decent investment just for the amusement value.

But basically they (meaning pretty much any bodybuilding mag) have no incentive to give people the tools to understand how the body responds to training and train on their own, since in doing so they'd render themselves unnecessary. So instead they run people in circles each month with the latest magic routine/diet/supplement, and run vacuous articles on "what the pros do," conveniently neglecting to mention that these guys have one-in-ten-million genetics and are taking massive amounts of drugs.
