The best damn appliances in the world...

Just saw a new line if 'invisible' dishwashers from Bosch... totally my next buy... cover is the same as the cab's, pretty standard, but the sound damping is the best in the business... with my ear up to the counter i could BARELY hear it running...

My salesman at the showroom says they actually have gotten complaints about the fact that its so quiet you cant tell if it actually started! Love that.
i'll have to check that one out, chef....i bought the maytag neptune washer & dryer combo because of their lowest (at the time) noise rating. after my latest kitchen modeling; the living room/kitchen is one big room, with just a breakfst bar separating the two. so, noice levels ( or lack of!) is important to me.

the maytag dishwasher i have now (from 2003) is light years quiter than the "upgraded appliance package" unit from the contractor; but can still hear it run most of the time.

Chef

As I spec out the kitchen I am looking into appliances. The house is for me to live in but ultimately I am concerned about retail.

La Cornue I priced at something like $35K per range top and oven....is there really an enhanced quality I could point to for the next buyer? Or is it a status piece...the laCornue guy I talked to wasted no time in telling me they are owned by Robin Williams, Sandra Bullock etc.....wow could I not give a shit. :)

Is there really a difference or is it all prestige?

I think I'll stick to Kenmore when I buy my house. If I was a chef, and I spent most of my time in the kitchen, it would be a different story though. BTW, the sub-zero appliances look awesome, so if money was no object, they would be in my kitchen.

I love sub zero, they are expensive though!!

my new place has fridgidaire stuff in it

I love our new Thermador Fridge and matching Range. The Range is amazing, I love grilling in the winter (it's quite cold during the winter season where I am... yes, snow). High Quality and no problems with them, but only had them for 4 months.

Just purchased a wolf cooktop with 4 burners with SS exhaust fan, wolf oven (love the red controls) and subzero fridge. Awesome stuff and GREAT customer service!

great stuff Diesel!

matty, i know this a long time late but.... La Cornue is a piece of furniture... chinese laquer, brushed brass fittings... and truely state of the art temperature control... fact is the stuff is truely a gourmonds paradise found... i know the flagship Williams Sanoma Store in the 50s used to have Grand model set up and working... you need to SEE and feel the stuff, feel how it opens and closes and adjusts...

on any high end range/oven/combo etc.. you have to check the external heat ratings: how hot does the front of the door get after the oven has been on xxx temp for xx minutes... important VERY IMPORTANT stuff to know when you have kids.

I have a 5k DCS range and Kitchenaid (their top end). I bought an italian range hood. Henkles (sp?) are a must for me...

bosch makes good dishwashers as well

I agree but the rack has not held up as well as our old kitchen aid. I am going to replace the bosch for a viking ?????

La Cornue is beautiful. I would be scared to cook on it though. My wife just order a Viking professional series. I liked the looks of the wolf (it is Definitely not La Cornue) but the Sealed burners of the Viking is what sold us, if you have ever had anything boiled over you will really appreciate sealed burners.
