Anyone read anything that they find essential? I know I will get some gift certificates to book stores etc. for xmas, and want to know if you guys have any MUST READ! books out there. I have Arnold's Encyclopedia of BB...but would like something new and from a new perspective.

The new anabolics....Bill's new book...it's on the website, a paper copy, not an e-book

Elite is taking orders now

hows The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding, arnolds book i skimmed it but was wondering what's your input on his training advice/ training programs

Everyone idolizes Arnold and a lot of people recommend this book. I think it is garbage imo. High volume body part splits are fine for the genetic elite and chemically enhanced, but not really all that good for regular Joe's. I would never follow any routine that was said to have been Arnold's. I am sure most of them are written by Joe Weider anyway.

I just ordered Anabolics 2009. Although that is not a "training" book it is good to have around anyway.

Needto's cook book is a must have, if you don't already have it.

I also just bought "3 days a week" by Jim Wendler of eliteFTS. Very good book of you are into training 3 days a week and your goals are strength oriented.

You can't go wrong with "Starting Strength" by Mark Rippetoe and Lon Kilgore

Also "Supertraining" by Mel Siff, "Science and Practice of Strength Training" by Dr. Vladimir Zatsiorsky, and "Theory and Methodology of training" by Tudor Bompa are all essential reads if getting big and strong are your goals.

Arnold's Encyclopedia is a must for BBing fans, the pictures are great. The routines and nutrition advice are from the 70's and mostly garbage by today's standards.

Starting strength is great all round.

This book is also excellent: Weightlifting Encyclopedia Guide to World Class Performance

Amazon.com: The Weightlifting Encyclopedia: A Guide to World Class Performance: Arthur J. Drechsler: Books

It is exhaustive in terms of the mechanics of strength and power and weightlifting as a sport - I wish I head read it ten years earlier.

I also liked Tom Platz's book: Prostyle Bodybuilding which is very basic, but is very sound for it's time and easy to pick up.

"POLIQUIN PRINCIPLES" is a great book for hypertrophy purposes and! There is also the new book from Robert Kennedy "Bodybuilding Encyclopedia from A to Z" that I would like to get my hands on.

I like it...I have it and I've read it a few times

Some of the principles in there, like running the rack, drop-sets etc...are very good and I utilize them...
