The Best All Over Single Exercise

Ok
So if you could only choose ONE exercise for all over development what would it be?

Lets say we can also include powerlifiting techniques like the clean and jerk into the discussion.

I'm going for Bent Leg Deadlift as a plain bodybuilding movement and the clean and jerk if we are factoring in power lifting techqnies, which we should be

ill say clean and jerk........... its the only exercise that actually hits and involves every single muscle................period.

if you do a full clean and press. then you should end up coming out of a full squat and then the press hits all the pushing muscles. and the clean hits biceps and forearms.

i would choose a squat...but on the stipulation that i could do any variety of it. overhead, zercher, hack, front etc.

for a full body exercise without stipulation, clean and press...its one exercise....

just cause the name has an "and"..doesnt make it 2 exercises....does it?
 
Clean and jerk; snatch; cleans - Olympic lifts

bench, squat, deadlifts: power lifting.

Just thought I'd clarify :)

Probably about a year ago, I'd say deadlifts. But now? May have to say the snatch. Not power snatch, I prefer to go as below parallel as possible.
 
I think you would either have to top heavy or bottom heavy if you chose just one excersize. I'll choose top heavy and say weighted dips.
 
The idea of choosing just ONE exercise is absurd in and of itself.

Who would really work out with just one exercise?

I'd have to agree. A full clean and jerk/press with a full squat would hit everything. Plus, you can use more weight than in a snatch. (Better for the squat portion of the lift.)

hmm... stone lifting would hit almost everything

but i still say squat..with different variations of course
 
Definetely clean and jerk/press. It combines

1. Deadlifting the weight
2. Shrugging the weight
3. Front Squatting the weight
4. Pressing the weight

agreed and it takes so much timing and balance....
 
How about 2 lifts :)

Trap Bar Deadlift + Bench Press/Dip would hit all of the body's major muscle groups.
 
Clean and jerk is a great exercise but it is one step away from being complete. It does almost nothing to the pecs.

Cleaning and jerking a stone would be better because your pecs have to work harder to keep your arms around the stone.
