The Bermuda Triangle... what's your explanation?

But where are the bodies? The wreckage? HUH! HUHHHHHH!????

and suddenly... there they were... never to be heard from again.... *spooky organ music*

Giant Methane bubbles released from the ocean floor. Once it floats to the top and if by chance a ship is above it, it will sink dur to the density of the methane being less than the water around it. Before you know it, the entire ship would be under water

Bodies and wreckage at the bottom of the ocean...it's not like anyone bothers to do scans of the ocean floor in deep water just to find a small plane...too expensive. Easier and cheaper to write it off as missing, and close the book on the case.

deliquinent and canadianhitman make good points.

but seriously... when you have ocean liners and bomber squads disappearing, you would think that the navy would do a sonar ping or something to find out why.

Also, if it were the methane bubbles or the high winds or something, why doesn't these disappearances occur in other parts of the world as well?

You'll get some crazy theories if you start asking around, but I haven't asked.

A guy I served with in Okinawa, his dad was a Ranger in 'Nam. His dad believes that all the guys who die in war were actually offered a million dollars, and live somewhere with virgins but can not contact their families ever again. All the people who came back chose not to take the offer.

I saw a documentary on Discovery about it a while ago and they explained that there are certain places in the ocean where giant methane pockets are released. There was another one up near the Nordic countries if I remember correctly. It was a very interesting documentary containing recreations of what a methane pocket of that size could do, only on a smaller scale of course

Could be some sort of geothermal activity on the ocean floor that "superheats" the water directly below passing ships (happens often, though it is by chance for a ship to pass over it). Heated water causes ship to sink dramatically due to density. Other geothermal phenomenom similar to this one occur in ocean regions where ships do not sail.

Dirk Pitt would know *nods*.

I saw this and i think its a great theory.

i watched a show on discovery about the bomber squad that dissapeared, its supposedly the most famous dissapearance, i believe they found the planes off the coast of florida, the explanation was that the flight leader got his berrings all mixed up and he thought his compass was not working properly, so he badly misjudged his location and instead of keeping on course to florida they wound up heading back out to sea and running out of fuel...

So far, no one is willing to post up the truth on this thread..
Where is Dcup or his alter when you need him ?

I believe Raina is the closest so far to what it actually is..

Yep......I saw that on discovery too. Interesting stuff.

I heard AAP's ass is refered to as the 'Bermuda Triangle' in the :geigh: circles... maybe because so many men disappear in it... LOL...

That was retarded... please ban me pronto.

Yep. The leader was relatively inexperienced and they have radio logs of the rest of his flight telling him he was going the wrong way, but being good soldiers they stayed with him. And by the way, these "bombers" were small attack planes; it wasn't like a B-17 squadron with copilots and navigators in every plane. Just one guy per plane trying to keep on top of everything.

It's actually a very busy bit of ocean. Sort of like, why are there a lot of fender benders in LA? Because there are a lot of cars there.

my theory.... its really weird.

It's a busy maritime and air travel intersection and shit happeneds...
or it could be...gaint attacking squid from the deep
[que cheesy, 50's, horror music]

aliens......definitely aliens

Or just people getting lost & running out of fuel and boring rational reasons like that....

I've heard the theory thats its a portal to travel back in time...hmmm

There's this one chick whose slash is so big I call it the Bermuda Triangle. She's got so much shit in there it could be made into a fish habitat.

Exactly.

I've always wanted to heare at least some sort of estimate on the percentage of traffic that disappears.

I think the explanation is simple and yet metaphorical!

Simply look at the shape, triangle. There's another place with the same shape:licker:, and millions of men have been getting lost there for thousands of years!! :chomp:

My eyesight isn't the best, is that a pickle or a dick in your mouth in your avi???

It's supposedly the release of large quantities of methane, as a few people posted. High concentrations of methane in the air will cause plane engines to stall. There are actually methane deposits all over the ocean floor and they're being released all the time, but there are areas for whatever reason have abnormally high concentrations.
