Hey everyone! I figured Id start an online journal. For motivation and maybe itll help and inspire some others! Since I dont have a fully planned out routine on any given day, and my training can be real instinctual, my routines can differ greatly. ThanX again everyone! Ill start by posting today's routine:

11-9-03 Sunday Upper chest, Speed Bench, Rear delts and Delts

Heres the routine I did:

135x20 (warm-up)
225x10 (warm-up)
275x11(one rep PR) (warm-up)
315x6 (super light)
335x2.75 (light, just missed lockout)
355x1 ( Blasted up pretty quickly)
365 (Only got it a little more then half way up)
360 (almost got it, went off balance a bit)
325x1.5
300x3.5
225x18

Then Speed Bench: 10 sets with 160lbs for 3 reps , 30 seconds rest between sets.Speed was better then ever even after the 11 sets of incline.

Then Rear delts: 3 sets on a reverse fly machine, 3 sets using a rope attachment with the whole stack

Lastly Some shoulders: 3 sets on a pin loaded shoulder press

ThanX Nwinters! Im not sure what my OHP is at. Never really did heavy barbell OHP's on freeweight. I used to do alot of dumbell shoulder presses though. I got the 100's for about 8-10 reps on my own and a few assisted. Havent done them in a while though.
Id like to try doing push presses or seated OHP's with the barbell.It seems I hit my shoulders so much with all the pressing and even deadlifts, that I dont really train them seperately anymore.I have two chest days. One for flat bench and rack lockouts (4-6hours) and one for incline,speed bench,rear delts,and possibly some delts (a few hours). I used to hit close to 20 sets for flat bench alone,now its closer to 12. Just take long rests. I hit close to the same amount of sets with incline also. Just have to make due with shitty spots on that day. Getting ready to deadlift now, Ill be sure to post the results here. ThanX for the inspiration brother!

11-10-03 Monday

Todays workout went to shit. haha. My lowerback didnt recover since I had fucked around with a 425 dead with no warm-up in the middle of the week. haha After 225 on the power rack at the lowest setting felt heavy, I knew this day was fucked! So I will either deadlift next monday or later this week. Instead I did rack lockouts on the deads. Worked my way up to 725 for about a one inch lockout. Nothing major since I get 720 off the lowest setting in the rack doing Beast Lifts (deadlift with the bar behind the legs). This was in front though. Its probabally a PR since I never do them haha. Then I focused on back, but felt real sluggish and took me real long to get through the routine. Lost track of time.I may have done about 11 sets of back. Heres what I did from memory: (Shitty workout)

Partial deadlifts at lowest rack setting:

135x10
225x10 , then said fuck it,my lower back was far from recovered.

Deadlift Lock-outs off of rack (pins set just above knees):

225x1
315x1
405x1
495x1
585x1
675x1
725x1

Then for back:

2-3 sets of Chin-ups 15-20 reps (spread thru out workout)

5 sets of Hammer Strength rowing machine:

90lbs for 15 reps (Reps estimated)
180lbs for 15
270 for 12
360 for 8-10
450 for 6

Then Dumbell Rows:
130's for 15
150's for 15

Cable Pulley Row:

190 for 12
240 for 12

Lat Pulldown:

185x12

ThanX brother!! Yea I think I wouldve had more in me. I was in a bad fucking mood on friday and the guy I train with (Once a week for a reason!!) was getting on my fucking nerves. haha He was going for a 425lb deadlift, but doing them from the rack, down to the floor and back up, something I tried a while ago, (too much strain on the knees, walking backward with 500lbs resting on your knees) that allowed me to pull 495 when my best floor dead was 460. Anyway, he attempted the 425 and failed at the floor. He wanted help getting the shit back up to the rack. So I just lifted it off the floor, was going to walk it to the rack, but figured fuck it. Guess I was just fucking with him. I wont do it again though. ThanX for the compliment and encouragement bro. I wont do that shit again!

11-13-03 Thursday Chest Day

Hey everyone! I hit some small PR's and a fairly nice PR on flat bench tonight. I took 3 "Speed Stacks" which was a PR in itself! haha . Heres how it went. After warming up, I hit 315 for 5.5 which is 1.5 reps off from a PR. Attempted it again, did it only 5. Seemed like a weak day. Then I hit 300 for 8 reps, which is a very small PR (quarter rep). Then tried 300 again, only 7 reps. Then I hit 345 for 2. Which is a PR since I never did reps with that weight. Though Im sure I would have had more if I was fresh. Then I hit 350 for 1.5 reps. Since the heavier weights were feeling light today, I figured fuck it and downed my third "Speed Stack" and decided to max. I then hit an easy 360 for 1. Then I went for
370 and got it up to just before lockout, but missed it. Considering 370 was my 11th set thats fucking good for me, since 365 is my best unassisted bench , and this is on the days Im focused on max only. Im still training for reps this month. I attempted 370 2 more times but only about 1/2 way up. Still a pretty solid day. Cant wait til december when I focus on maxing again! 405 must fall!! ThanX everyone!

Heres the routine I did:

275x8(warm-up)

300x8 (quarter rep PR)

345x2 (1 rep PR)
350x1.5 (Half rep PR)

370 for 3/4 of a rep (missed lockout) (Almost a 5lb PR)

No lockouts tonight. Acceleration felt better then ever, and 370 flew off my chest, where as before It was getting stuck at the bottom. When I focus on Max next month I expect 405. ThanX for the inspiration everyone!!

11-14-03 Friday Triceps and Biceps

A very fucking strange day to say the least. After the 3 Speed Stacks I had yesterday I ended up staying up for another workout as well. Right now Ive been up over 33 hours Im estimating. In this time Ive had 3 protein bars and a banana, Just had a small sandwhich. Im still wide awake, but thinking of forcing sleep in a little while. Was feeling nauseous and freaked out today, and then the fucking gym didnt pay the water bill, so dehydrated also.
I did get some water, but not much.Was more cut then ever today also...Must be the speed, lack of food , and some sun exposure.... Heres what I did today: (by memory)

Triceps:

Rope pulldowns up to 190lbs,then 190lbs for 10 reps (Maybe 4-5 sets)

V-bar pulldowns up to 190lbs for 15 reps (maybe 4-5 sets)

2 additional sets of Rope pulldowns super-setted with an alternate rope movement ( Facing opposite direction and leaning forward, extending rope)

Biceps:

Barbell Curl: 135x10, 185x4-5 Nothing worth mentioning haha

Preacher machine: 140lbs for some slow reps

Standing cable curls (double bicep type): 60lbs for 12-15, 70lbs for 12-15, 80lbs for 12-15

Dumbell Curls: 45lb dumbells for 12 reps on each hand

Incline dumbell curls: 40lb dumbells for 10-12 for 2-3 sets

Overall a real unclear day, and weak fucking workout. I posted it anyway though. Just a light day. Got a good pump though. Probabally missed some shit and Im sure the order is a little fucked up. haha ThanX for the encouragement!

There is nothing that WalkingBeast should fix. . .at this point.

When he stops making muscular gains or gains in strength. . then you can talk.

Oh, I know. I think people are just trying be helpful and come across saying in a wrong way(myself included). I am not claiming to know all or preach anything. Just trying to share my experiences to present a point of reference.

Thats what I hear. From what I have heard, he is the leading candidate right now. We have some interesting politics around here though. Mike Price applied, but our president says he won't even consider him.

Sunday 11-16-03 Upper chest, Speed bench, Delts, Rear delts and abs

Today was a decent workout, considering my triceps are still extremely sore from a few days ago. I hit a few small PR's. Also I went for 360 on the incline after a number of heavy sets and managed to get it pretty legit. I brought it down real fast, blasted it off my chest and then about 3/4's of the rep, the guy spotting me put his finger on the bar, and says he didnt assist me, didnt get a chance cuz it went up fast, and his hand was injured as well. So I count it as legit. Though it slowed down alot near the top, probabally cuz my triceps were so torn up, and the finger did make the difference. Im sure it was mostly mental though. If I was fresh and maxing I think Id have alot more in me. That was the highlight of the workout, my repping was weak today. Also hit some small PR's with the shoulders. Cable Lateral Raises to the side. Heres the routine and PR's:

Incline Bench:

135x20 (warm up)
225x10 (warm up)
275x10 (warm up, but still taken to failure)
315x 3.5 (weak)
335x1.5 (weak)
360x1 (5lb PR, somewhat questionable, but good considering my triceps were fried)
315x3
275x7.5 (with no spotter even present, almost took my head off, but not quite)
225x14 (no spotter present)

Speed Bench: 10 sets of 3 reps at 160lbs, 30 seconds rest between sets. Acceleration was good.

Then Hammer Strength Machine for shoulders (simulates behind the neck presses I believe): (Weights are listed as if weight was on a barbell)

225x12
315x9
365x6

Then one-arm Cable Lateral Raises to the side:

40x15
50x12
60x12 (PR)
70x12 (PR)
Followed by dumbell laterals with 35lb dumbells for 19 reps, 12 to the sides, and 7 to the front.

Then Rear Delt Machine:

155x12
200x12
260 for a few reps only

Lastly abs, Kneeling rope crunches on cable apparatus:

170x15
190x15
190x15
190x15

I agree, a heavy incline is quite impressive. You should just be really hardcore and max 405 on incline before you try it on flat. That would be really hardcore.

the point of having a journal is to post your workouts there. or you can just start a new thread every week and post your workouts fresh.

but there is no point to posting it in the journal, and as a new thread. its just taking up space on the web.

on your training note. you dont go for a max, and do speed day on the same day. 1 day you go for a max, 2nd day, you work your speed. not 2 heavy days, and throw speed in on top of one.

but here is a recomendation. when anyone bench's on an incline, they use more shoulders. if your bench on flat and incline is withing 5-10 lbs of each other, than your triceps are your weak link.

why dont you ditch the speed day for now, have your heavy incline day, and instead of full range of motion flat bench day. make it rack lockouts, heavy, and i mean heavy. if your doing anything under 6 reps, you should have 405 on the bar.

Monday 11-17-03 Deadlifts and Back

Todays workout was overall very good, but not the strongest. I took one Speed Stack only, in an effort to cut down on the ephedrine. I was still decently strong. Heres the routine I did by memory: (6 hours)

Rack Deadlifts on Lowest setting in Power Rack (upper shin level):

135x15
225x10
315x1
405x1
515x1
535x1 (20lbs off from best)
560 (failed multiple times)

Rack Beast Lifts (A deadlift with the bar behind the legs, at the same power rack setting)

545x1
585x1
635x1
700x1
725x1 (5lb PR, I got one side to full extention and the other side a bit lower due to my strap failing, but still legit IMO)
730 (failed twice)
635x7 (bouncing weight off the pins)

About 4 sets of Chin-ups thru out entire routine ranging from 10-20 reps

Barbell Rows: (slightly bent only)

135x20
225x12-15
275x12-15
315x15
365x6
365x4
315x12
315x12

Dumbell Rows:

150's x12
150's x12
150's x12

All from memory, pretty accurate though Im sure, some reps may be slightly higher also, but wanted to be careful. ThanX for the encouragement!
 
Holy shi.... this guy is curling 185 for 5+ reps and says he had bad workout, he bentover rows 365 lbs for reps, and can probably do a 400 on incline, all at 190 lb bodyweight? This is just fucking nuts

ThanX brother!! Making me feel better :D . Ive gotten the 365 for 10-12 and the 185 for 9-10. So Ive had better days, but I felt like I got a pretty good beating haha. I was only 186 today. I need to get the weight back, that 36 hours awake with little eating, set me back some. I only had one Speed Stack today,and would like to continue taking one only if possible. haha Will see how my strength holds up. ThanX again Revex!!!!!!

Hey Rus!! They are real similiar to deads it seems, in the muscles they work. Probabally some differences. I really like them alot though. I used to do barbell shrugs behind the back, from time to time. And also, one day while working security, I realized I could lift a golf cart, much easier by facing it backwards and lifting instead of forwards. One day I just tried deadlifting like that, off the power rack. And the first day I tried, my numbers were in the mid to high 600's. Later I tried doing them from the floor. Didnt take me long to hit 590. After that they became routine. ThanX for asking!!!

You have some very impressive numbers. How old are you and how long have you been training?

ThanX Pigeon!!! Im 23. I started when I was 14. So Ive been training for over 9 straight years now. In that time never missed more then a week at a time. Im training for both strength and size now. Im looking to get as big as possible, but most importantly Im training for freaky strength. Would hate to be one of those big guys thats weak as fuck, seems to be the trend these days. its been fine..taking a break from training...maybe for another week. i'll be gettin something for it in a few weeks or so(anti-inflammatories)its lookin better. also been feelin "burn-out" comin too so gotta take a break before that happens. where the fuck have u been brutha!?! don't tell me your actually sleepin now?

Remember my man. . .take care of the joints.

Invest in some flaxseed oil and glucosamine. . you can pick these up at your local Wal-Fart.
