The Anti-Carb Crusade

I was just wondering why everyone seems to hate carbs so much. I can see that point when dieting, you have to cut calories somewhere, but what about when bulking? I've seen several posts saying that person A's bulking diet is high protein, moderate carb and moderate fat. I've also seen a post telling someone to eat 250grams of carbs when bulking. Why is that? I know I try to follow the 40-40-20 split. Although, recently it's been more like 30-50-20. Seems to me that if you want to up your calories, then carbs are the ideal choice. Not only that but they give you energy for working out and keep your body from using protein as fuel.
 
I agree with that. Carbs are great when bulking. Hell, when juicing and bulking, to add MASS, concentrate on only protein and cals. The juice will stop ya from becoming a jumbo fatty. You can always diet to lose the fat later.
 
I just realized this and my intake of carbs has increased by about 150g a day for a total of 400g. It's been about 1 week and i've gained about 2 extra pounds and my lifts have increased in weight as well. Only thing is that my carbs come generally from oatmeal, brown rice, potatoes, flax seed bagels. Nothing else.
 
Well, i don't know about "hating" carbs. I don't go for them on my diet right now. But i still look forward to them in ooooooh, about 6 months :D
 
carbs = energy when you workout
carbs = recovery after workout

That's bullshit! Number one, I got the concept of 40-40-20 from Arnold and no one has ever accused him of being a big fat ass. I don't know, I just forgot what numbe two and three was supposed to be. Either way, there is absolutely nothing wrong with carbs.

Cure- That's not a problem, dude. I get all mine from pasta, oatmeal and rice, too. All 500 or so of them.

arnold may have done that when off season but when he had to cut u know he cut the carbs. no one ever accoused him of being fat? i beg to differ. mr. girunda(sp) i forget his name . well when arny came to his gym all vic saw was a puffy overweight bodybuilder.(i forgot his name but he had book called the wild thing, someone should know how i was takin about...)

i do think carbs play a roll in bodybuilding and it can make or break you, but i also think to many of BBers diets contain way to much carbs and not anuff fat. drop the carbs up the fat and i say yourll look better. :)
 
simple carbs=fatass
complex carb=not in a huury to get fat but enough energy to get through a grueling workout then burns away or help maintatains muscle mass
