the 0 curse

it's happened again. i'm pissed.

it's the 0 curse. it's happening to my partner too. we're doing 5x5.

when i did 90lb BB curl, i stalled for a week. nailed it the next week.

when i did 100lb BB curl, i stalled for a week. nailed it the next week.

now today, 110lb BB curl, i stalled AGAIN.

but 85lb, 95lb, 105lb....they were all EASY.

it's the 0 curse. if the number ends in 0 i can't curl it the first week.

had to do 5x3 on ALL sets today. i was mad. after the 2nd set i threw the bar down and commenced the yelling (FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! THIS FUCKING SUCKS!)

whole gym thinks i'm crazy. they must.

damn it this sucks :mad:

and i'll go in there next week and kill that shit too.

BB curl is the ONLY thing that i've had problems with in 12 weeks of doing 5x5. grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
 
theres one guy who whenver i see i always get really nervous because i failed at a squat and hes huge and thinks im an idiot probably so im nervous around him.

today, like every day, i wasnt putting up the numbers i should have been on bench. i always freak out about bench, probably because it is the one most kids/people put an emphasis on, but i always freak out over it.

i just made another thread about it, but i do the same "fuck fuck fuck thing"

except i yell GOD DAMNIT WHY AM I A WEAK PIECE OF SHIT, and all the huge guys look at me like im a moron lol, but i get so pissed off when i cant do something that i have done before.

i told myself im gunna do the 45's +15 on each side at the end of my workout for 6 no matter what, even if i have to stop mid set at the end...guess when i failed? in my fucking third set with the 45's on!!! i am a weak piece of shit wtf god help me god
 
Yeah I got mad one day and took a hammer with me to the gym. When I could'nt do my last rep I got up and started hitting the plates with the hammer yelling "How's that feel? Huh? <smack> How bout now? <smack> Hope that hurts ya peice of shit! <smack>, then I dropped the hammer and stormed out.

No one talks to me anymore.
 
As an experiment you might try smaller incremental increases in weight. I use 1.25 lb. magnetic chips when I feel I'm getting close to failure on the 5 x 5. Snap one on each side, and I can keep the progression going a few weeks longer.

Or you could wrap 10 lbs. of weights up in an old training shirt, and bury it outside of the gym under a full moon, chanting "0 curse leave me be, find another is my plea".

sublime, bro, it'll come to you eventually. NEVER regard yourself as weak. look at it as a challenge. i know it's hard to keep going once you fail at something you know you can do, but we all have our days, or at least that's what i've noticed with myself. you'll get there bro, and you've got plenty of time to do it.

griz1 - i'm gonna try that.

Westsnoop - my gym doesn't have magnetic plates or else i would go up in smaller incriments. smallest weights they have are 2.5lbs. we have a few boxes in there, 4" and 8" wooden ones, then 2 that are steel with a rubber top on them that are i think 24" and 30". i asked the staff the other day if we can get a box that's shorter than the 24" or so box because it's just a bit too tall for me to do proper box squats with. they were looking for other alternitives. if i asked for magnetic weights they'd probably think i was insane.

however, burying the weight and praying for the curse to leave me....that might not be a bad idea. my dogs have dug some new holes in the yard, so there's already a place for the weight to go.......
