THC's affect on muscle building?

Hi bros

I like to get high(Mary Jane) on occasion even at night after I work out. Does anyone know if this will affect my muscle growth or the steroids I am usnig? Any advice is needed.

hinders muscle development as far as i am concerned iam sure some will argue this but they are usually the ones who are smokeing away diminshied lung capacity , deminisioned aerobic and an aerobic activity capacity. carcinognes...not to mention its a form of estrogen
 
obviously it would be better to not inhale smoke into your lungs but there are worse things you could be doing.

personally I smoke, near every day at night after I workout. I usually just smoke and then prepare my meal (after my pwo shake). It makes it pretty fun :) and the food is oh so delicious.

As far as diminished aerobic performace, etc. I haven't noticed anything. I guess if you were toking up 3-4 times a day it could effect your lungs in a negative way regarding cardio. I find that if it's my first time during the week doing cardio (after the weekend, ie, smoke alot) I will struggle a little bit for the first few minutes but then my lungs get "cleared" and I can breath deeper.

Concerning the estrogen, there are tons of studies that says THC won't effect your estrogen level, but then again, i'm sure there are plenty that says it will. You gotta make your own decision on that one.

NO.

There is no scientific link between THC and muscle building. Nor is there any link between THC and any physiological impairment (other than the obvious one of inhaling smoke in your lungs). Nope. No credible science (Americans take note of the word "credible" here). There's lots of non-credible information that says the stuff will reduce your gains (and make your dick fall off and your wife cheat on you, etc) but that information was funded and/or published by extremly biased organizations to reduce drug use in the good 'ol US of A.

Just a whole lot of propaganda from the DEA, and ONDCP. Our senate committee up here in Canada did a two year investigation into Marijuana and it's effects and dangers. I am one of the few who actually bothered to read the entire report.

Keep smokin and don't worry bout your gains. Worry about your ass getting busted for a victimless crime, and getting treated like a murderer by your own government.

Personally, I have seen no results of MJ hindering muscle developement, and I don't use steroids. I've been smoking as long as I've been working out, and I see no reason why it would ever effect muscle mass.
 
i read somewhere it inhibits protein metabolism...domt remember where i read it or who funded it, ill try to find it
 
The only thing I can think of is when you squat down deep for that 10th rep, you'll feel it.
Just work through the burn.
 
ive been smoking dope for as long as ive been bodybuilding, yeah it fucks up the lungs no doubt but has it hindered muscle developement? i dont think so i notice a difference every month when i finish my 5lb tub of whey.
 
All I have to say is I smoke my and probably your fair share of the good ol' Canadian Chron' and I can still run like a mutha fucka. The most important thing is to keep active I think. It would be rubbish to say that marijuana negitively impacts bodybuilding. I mean look at Arnold, yeah u saw that shit.

Hey brother, I certainly don't mean to preach or rag on you...but if you're doing some tokin', on the sauce and you're concerned about muscle growth??? You may wish to view your priorities. Smoking has a negative effect on the lungs, so well publicized I won't get into it, and the 'roids will take their toll on you eventually, no matter what anyone else tells you[businesses are out to make a buck, period], and the toking has legal issues - whether it will this or that for you isn't an issue, as it is illegal at this time.
Sadly, choices we make in our twenties WILL come back as health issues in our 40's and above, and you will find this out in time. There is no such thing as a "harmless" drug, it has effects - good and bad, or else why would it be worth taking? Just my 2 cents. Good luck brother.

Ain't nothing wrong with a little thc for your head every once and a while. I don't really worry about my lungs and I'm a runner. You don't have to smoke a lot like tobacco to feel the effects, the recommended dose of marijuana to get you nice and high is 2-3 hits(assuming the weed is good). That's really not going to effect your lungs too much.

I remember once I did a load on my back during a workout and really felt it at night and couldn't sleep because of it. I got out of my bed and took 2 hits out of my pipe and my back was cleared of all pain. God I love MJ :)

all this talk about negative effect on the lungs. yes, without any medical evidence I'd agree that inhaling any kind of smoke is bad for your lungs. I've been toking for a long time and I bet I can run up and down a basketball court for hours on end or lift weights at high intensity for 2 hours. I gained lots of muscle while smoking daily. could I have gained an extra few pounds without the weed? probably yes. but then again we could have all gained a bit more if we didn't eat half the thigns we do.

if you wanna avoid the adverse affects completely just cook with it, thats effective enough and no smoke inhallation... or you could try dropping a bud in a shot of alcohol and leaving it there for an hour then doing the shot... my friend said that works but ive never tried it

I love eating weed but sometimes its hard to control how stoned you get :p
I have a mate who ate a half oz of resin just to say he could and ended up bedbound for 2 days, yes thats right not even a trip too the tolet in 2 days,
it may have been longer but his girlfreind came round to see him ,she found him cleaned him up. this happen about a tear ago and it still makes me laugh ;)
 
I've been wondering about the affects of THC on muscle development also but i havn't noticed any negative effects because I've been increasing my 1RM on every major lift and on my auxiliary lifts. I havn't come across any "credible" research either. However I do notice it more when it comes down to aerobic training, but that could also be due to lack of training. In the case of hardgainer, I'd be more worried about the negative effect of steroids on my body as a whole over THC.

I do believe and have read before that THC weakens your immune system. Be angry at me if u want because I did not post any studies on it. But I have done some research before and it is a fact that it weakens your immune system. If you are using steroids on weeds and now u know what it means! Your immune system experiences a even more weakened state! I don't really care about the lungs because if your immune system is strong then you can reach your genetic potential without roids or beat your genes with roids. Take all the vitamins and minerals especially Vitamin C. Eat very healthy diet especially the muchies and keep a look out on your immune system buddy:qt:

From someone who's been smoking regularly (everyday) for the past 17 years with a 3 year break somewhere in the middle. It's made no difference whatsoever. Under the influence you're weaker, less energy and mental functions suffer (not called dope for nothing) but apart from a bit of dehydration I've never noticed any permanent effects. I read somewhere that occasional use can reduce test levels but that sorts itself out after discontinuation or with regular use.

I'd never smoke before 1900 hrs or before going to the gym but in the evening before bed..... Blaze away!!

I say it does fuck gains up I've tried it with and with out and I'd say it has an effect on me personally I feel like shit the next day tired lazy.
If your really serious about getting in shape and building muscle you would quit anyway.
