Well I guess I'm an official powerlifter now. I competed in my first meet today. I did pretty well I guess. I placed first in bench(thats all I did) and I set a new state record at 138!!! Thanks to everyone that gave me tips here in the past few weeks!!!!! It really helped!!!

Sorry it took me so long to get back with the #'s. Its not really as good as it sounds. I entered the NASA Kentucky State Meet. There were only 75 people in the whole thing. I'm totally new to this but I thought for sure there would be more than that in it. Anyway, I opened 245, then 265 and 275(could have went more). I don't really know what the state record was. I just know after I did my last lift they anounced that I had just set a new record in the pure novice division!!! I was thrilled. I got to asking around and found out the national record. It was only 292 for pure novice. I thought I was doing really good until I looked at the pure division, it was over 350!!! I still have alot of work to do thats for sure. I don't guess I can be to upset with my first meet though. It went really well for me. I got all my lifts and could have went more!! If nothing else I have the drive to work harder and try to set a national record now!!!

Grantsdu, that is really good news. I will be doing my first
competition in the coming months. Seeing how well you did
in your first competition gives me hope for a good result in
mine.

When I first got there I wasn't nervous at all. The closer it got time for me to lift the more worried I got. I was afarid I would scratch my first lift or something like that. I was so worried about it I went and did my 3 lifts on a practice bcnch a few hours before I knew I had to bench!! I just hope as time goes by I will get strong enough to compete in the pure division. I can't right now!!

I agree but its going to be a while before I enter in all 3!!! I would be laughed at. I have just begun to train my legs so its going to be a while on them.

Grantdsu, the only people who would laugh at you are the people who have never stepped up on the platform. You would be surprised how much encouragement you can get if you are new, to say nothing of perhaps picking up some useful training advice. As a general rule, experienced PL'ers are very willing to help someone who is making an honest effort.

GRANTSDU, Arioch is right experienced PL's will help you out if they're the friendly type I experienced this myself not only with the FL crew on here, but I had some words with other guys at the meet and they were VERY surprised to find out I was only 17 and then they were more open to helpin me out.
