Testosterone Blood Tests for Dummies

Can someone explain to me the difference between :

Testosterone, Serum
Testosterone, Free
and % Free Testosterone

How do these numbers fit together? What's the most important indicator?

Total testosterone is just that...the total amount of bound and free testosterone in the human body or at least in the sample of blood given.

Free testosterone is bioavailable testosterone that can enter cells to help with protein synthesis.

Percent free may not reflect actual free amounts in the system though (but very close). This would be a percentage of bound hormone compared to non-bound hormone, but the HPLC machine can be wrong on all accounts.

So if I were to compare these two test results:

Test 1 Test 2
Serum 373 Serum 279
Free 10.00 Free 9.81

Would these be considered to be close because of the free test level? There was quite a drop in Serum lever (hell if I know why.) Goddamnit i'm getting confused.'!!!alsdfk g'saldf 'jgal
