Testing for anabolic steroids and hgh

i was wondering if someone can school me on steroid and hgh testing...how much does a basic test go for and do they have to test for a specific compound or does all show up???? as for hgh from the little knowledge i know about it, there currently is no test for it or is that false???? has anyone ever heard there hometown police+fire or ems dept. testing for it or any city job for that matter...
