testin out my suit today!

im going to test my suit out! I have pretty high expectations and im hoping i hit them. I'll let everyone know how it goes

wow, it went nothing like i expected. No one opened the gym until 30 minutes after i got there so i was pressed for time, as i only had about an hour to lift

so i go like this
bar x 10
95 x 6
135 x 3
185 x3
205 x 2 (with belt)
suit on
225 x 0, it threw me forward at the bottom, kinda hurt my knee
suit off(pressed for time, didnt want to struggle with my suit the entire time, i'll save that for a day where i have more time)
225 x 2 (belt only)
245 x 1
255 x 1 PR by like 20 lbs
Knee wraps
285 x0, i was getting it up and i would lean forward and then have to bail. I blame it on my form, and my shoes, since they arent flat soled.

not the best day, so im kinda pissed

sorry to hear you had a bad day but, at least you set a PR. thats what matters. the best thing is to have a bad day and still make a PR. so congrats on that. you should get a pair of chuck taylors or maybe some squat shoes but the chucks are the cheapest.

do you think that it makes a difernce that i squat wide with the champion suit?? im gonna give the suit another try next week to see how it goes.

i probably wont get chucks for a while... gotta buy my mom a mothers day present, then fathers day is in june, my sisters b-day is in july. and i dont have a job. so i'll be strapped for cash for a while.

to be honest with you im not sure because i dont use a champion to squat with i only use to pull with it and i never played wit it in squat.

alright thanks alot.

anyone have any tips on how to stop my squat suit from pushing my hips forward too much so i fall....(im guessing just add more weight)

Congratulations on the PR, Deciever! A squat suit will have a tendency to push your hips up and forward unless you have enough weight on the bar to counter-balance it. It actually becomes easier to squat in a suit when the weight increases assuming that you are strong enough to lift that weight. The more you squat in the suit the easier it will become. 99% of the time when a lifter misses a squat attempt it is because the erectors can not handle the weight. This is even more true of very experienced lifters. The erectors are the weak link for most so they should be targeted heavily in training (i.e. good-mornings, pull-throughs, stiff-legged deads, reverse- hypers, etc...). Keep at it and good luck.

thanks, i know it wasnt too much weight... maybe too litle. I should be good for about a 285 squat w/ wraps when im fresh. I guess i'll just have try it out w/ more weight next time. My friends brother is coming back from college, so he's gonna help me out with getting it to work.

Anytime you learn something...you had a good day in the gym. Remember that training is not just physical work...a lot of it is mental and practice. This session helped you get closer to your next goal man...

now that im thinking back, i think the suit may have been pushing my knee's in alot..... next time i gonna fool around wi th the legs to see if i can get it to not push my legs in .

Well since i am the good day/bad guy when it comes to gear i have had everything good and bad happen in suits. If your knees are coming in you need to squat a little wider. Its not the total answer but it helped me. Also you can pull the legs up a little too. And a suit will pitch you far if you let it. The other night i did my squatting facing away from the mirror and went 50lbs under my opener. Becasue i was hell bent on sinking evryting deep as hell i forgot that my suit wont let me get comfortably low enough unless i have over 700 on there. So my straps went up on 585 and because i tried so hard to get low i almost fell down at teh bottom and when i came up. Long story short the 675 was nothing compared to the 585. So relax and justget some gym time in with the suit. The more weight you get up to the easier it will be to use it. Kinda like shirts!

yeah, maybe squatting wider will help, but if i go wider, i wont be able to break parallel and im competing in USAPL.. so you know how they are.

Im gonna try it again with outside of the leg pulled up higher so it wont pull my leg in as much. Im also going to try it with more weight.. probably go straps up with 255 , instead of 225.

Once i get used to it, i know i'll be good for 300! :) :)
