It's called insulin like growth factor for a reason, it looks and functions like insulin in the sense that it shuttle nutrients to the muscle tissue, now granted my hypo comment only applies to lr3 since it floats around in the body leeching off glycogen stores and glucose in the body but I will say you are correct that it will not happen as easily as i made it sound but there is still a good possibility in a pre competition diet low in carbs like he will more then likely be following
In regards to carbs I meant you need to eat a larger amount of carbohydrates when using igf then he will be able to on his competition diet however you are incorrect in regards to carbs post workout being standard like Dylan said he does not consume them and on a competition diet you often times don't get them post workout, it sucks but you gotta do what you gotta do
I do stand firmly by gh frag though and feel it is affective it just needs to be used right, 250mcg pre morning cardio on empty stomach and 250mcg 2 hours after your last meal of the day prior to your evening cardio
