since most other aas are just analogues of test, there's no reason not to use the base compound and then use others to exploit a certain characteristic (strength, size, etc.)

Well let's put it this way, on my last cutting cycle I used 750 mgs/wk of test. Just us an AI with it. It works great at preserving your mass while losing bodyfat.
I like that idea, my reasoning is that you are going to have a hard time gaining muscle on a cutting cycle - you are looking to preserve. You wont need a huge dose of test to preserve muscle, I would save the higher doses for a gaining cycle where the extra androgens can be better utilized.

Thanks for the input KD1 and makavelli. The AI's are very important and of course diet will play a key role. I'm definately looking to preserve the muscle I've gained already. I like the size with the look too.
I used to not be big on the idea and ran many cycles without it. But as we age we learn (hopefully). Since I have decided to use test in all my cycles I find they are more effective and recovery is generally easier. So, yes I am a believer
