Anyone have one? Do you get really overheated on it? I want to buy one but I've heard they're really hot and generally I like it really cold when I sleep. Bad idea?

Just get a sleep number bed. You'll save $2,000 and it's just as good.
someone gave us one after the house fire...I thought it was like sleeping on a styrofoam brick...we gave it away

Way too hot. Like sleeping on a furnace imo. I ended up w a sleep number with the cool foam and it's excellent.

you can get the topper for that.
however keep in mind if you type up the stock TPX it had a nosedive because of plummeting sales. want to know why? cause turns out its a horrible mattress to have sex on according to reviews and articles that have come out over the past year.

Best bed I've owned. Love this bed,
I just looked at the sleep number foam ones and they are the same price 
Still, if I'm gonna overheat it's definitely not happening.
So I guess we'll never know about the wine and the jumping... Unless my local mattress store holds a wine tasting

another weird thing with the tempur now that Im thinking of it
my husband turns into a furnace in his sleep and my body temp drops...so hed make this huge depression..I'd be stuck on top of the thing...then I'd roll in to him..not cool

Wait for a sleep number sale at a local mattress dealer. Look in your newspapers for ads. I got my Queen size for $469.
You guys have foam top sleep number or just the regular?

i'm a sweathog but i LOVE my tempurpedic...it's always freezing when you first get in, which i love and, when it warms up it doesn't seem to do anything but reach an equillibrium.
I have a King size sleep number, no foam. Why would you need a foam topper? The sleep number adjusts exactly to where you need it to be. Make sure you lay on a bed at a Sleep number store so they can tell you your magic number

Tempurpedic Tempurcloud supreme. It's softer than the standard Tempurpedic, and the best bed I have ever slept on.
But yeah, it is a little hotter, but I got used to it in a couple of days.
I travel a lot and spend a lot of nights on hotel beds, some of them pretty nice, but coming home is a whole different level of comfort.
My wife hates being hot, and admits the Tempurpedic is a little hotter than a normal bed, but she loves it anyway and would never switch, because the comfort is so much better.
And if you can't give a girl a good drilling on a Tempurpedic, don't blame the bed

We don't have a Tempurpedic per se, but it is similar and it has the "memory foam". We sweat in it. I wouldn't buy another one.

I can't stand being hot when I'm trying to sleep. I've made my bedroom into a goddamn vortex of air, it's awesome. No matter what I set my AC to, my bedroom is always 5 degrees cooler.

All these conflicting opinions probably has not helped cutiebolic with her decision. There are some hotels that have tempurpedics that you could find to try one out (like the Hotel Blue in Albuquerque or Metropolitan Inn In Salt Lake).
For people who are sensitive to the heat, there are mattress pads that will fix the problem, but at the expense of making the mattress less conforming to your body (since body heat is what helps it conform).
I know a few people who have Tempurpedics (not generic or other brand memory foam), and they all seem to like them.

unless you actually get cooler body temp when you go to sleep...then it sucks
Husband and I have had a Tempurpedic for several years. I'm HYPER sensitive about sleeping temperatures. If the room is reasonably cool (for example, I keep my bedroom at a constant 70 degrees in the summer), it's not hot. It does respond to temperatures so if it's really cold in the room the darned thing can be stiff as a board until it warms a little from body heat. I believe they've come out with a second generation that is better at dissipating heat. Long story short, I still TOTALLY recommend it! I'll go into the pros and cons in a second, but if you have ANY back troubles what so ever it could be the best investment you ever make.
Pros:
1. AWESOME for back trouble, especially low back. I've honestly had a more than 75% reduction in my lower back problems since getting this mattress and I have a majorly screwed up low back.
2. Excellent in the winter if you keep the room cold (I keep mine at 59 in the winter). Once it warms to your body temperature it actually keeps you really comfortable.
3. Damned near indestructible, there's nothing mechanical to break, no springs, nothing to spring a leak (unlike sleep numbers, which, if they fail, UTTERLY fail and you need at least 24 hours to get a repair crew out).
4. It's a mattress you'll never need to flip.
5. It's fucking cozy. Once you get used to sleeping on a Tempurpedic you get spoiled as shit and realize how much other mattresses totally suck. A Tempurpedic topper on a real mattress is a pale comparison.
6. That movement suppression thing works like a charm. My husband has sleep movement disorder, this mattress literally saved my life.
7. You actually don't need to buy a separate foundation for this mattress, you can put it on top of any solid platform that will support it's weight.
Cons:
1. Yeah, sucks for sex. The worst part I've noticed is that when you're going at it you generate heat and the mattress gets almost like Jello under you, most noticeable if you're on your knees.
2. Fucker is HEAVY. We're talking moving a morbidly obese dead person heavy. If you have to move, you need help.
3. You cannot get that Tempurpedic material wet. Get the waterproof mattress cover, it's not optional.
4. Sheets constantly pop off the darned thing on the corners for some silly reason, even deep pocket ones.
5. If you keep your room cold (below 65 degrees) the bed WILL be hard and actually chilly when you first get in and has to "thaw out" a little.
My recommendation would be to try to find a hotel/motel that has one and sleep on it for a few days but that's hard now. Tempurpedic used to have a link where you could look for hotels with their mattresses, no more. I know one hotel in Chincoteague, VA that has one. Some hotel chains have sleep number beds, too. I know you can do that 90 day in house thing but sounds like a hassle to me and really you'll know within a couple of days if it's for you.
Oh, and FYI generic memory foam mattresses are not comparable, I've heard this one repeatedly.

Wow, guys... Thanks for all the help! I am going to see if I can find a hotel in my area that uses them.
My friends that I am staying at they have a custom made memory foam couch it's amazing comfy but hot as alll hell
I have the same bed. I really like it too.

i saw some of those articles and reviews and i have to be honest...from my experience...when it's finally go-time, because the mattress conforms to your body, it seems to hold the target in place so that it can be hammered repeatedly from whatever angle the hammeree is in the mood for during a given session...like using a vice to hold something in place so that it can be properly drilled
maybe the complainers are just bad at sex...
