Tell me what you think about this quote:

It's nice - but people that are too kind scare me. :) I always think they are getting ready to rob me - beat me - or they are trying to pick me up. Call me paranoid and narcissistic, but what the hell.

It sounds like the person that wrote the quote suffers from depression and should be given a bottle of whiskey and a revolver with a singlr round in it.

I think the quote should have just been:
"Be kinder than necessary to everyone"

no need to qualify it.

Being kind brings more joy and happiness to people, why wouldn't you want to be a source of joy and happiness?

What utter bollocks, so when some arsehole is gobbing off at me I'm supposed to indulge them because they had a hard day at work or because they're depressed etc?

Fuck you pal, we've all got it tough, man the fuck up and stop ragging on others as an outlet for your shitty life.

So yea, there's the first thought that entered my head upon reading said quote.

I like it better my way.

This is generally true but most people simply still don't know how to take it (kindness).

I agree with both of them but sometimes fail to apply it.

I try to always remember that everyone has a story. I always used to think people are "stuck up". Now I just think that they are insecure and often times the very outgoing and friendly types are more comfortable in their own skin.

quick applicable story:
There is this trainer at my gym who is such an idiot. He's really white and skinny with a bunch of black tats all over his scrawny arms and he wears a black beanie hat which he constantly adjusts, compulsively looks in the mirror (looking at himself like , "sup?") and is just annoying. At the same time he gives me the cold shoulder for some reason. It really helps me to invision a sign above his head that says "Love and respect me, I hate myself" It really helps me cope with sharing a room with him 90 minuets a day! LOL!

I play these mind games a lot to extend grace to people. Otherwise, the whole world would drive me nuts.

Smurfy, thanks for the thought provoking quote :artist:

You are so, so correct my friend! The lower the self image, the harder it is for them to take (kindness) and some of these people have beautiful bodies. :worried:

He is happy you are noticing him.

i think its stupid to set guidelines on how you act towards people.

im not saying be a dick to everyone, or to not be nice, but it doesnt matter how you act, someone somewhere will be offended or dislike you, or get hurt.

all you really can do is be secure and true to yourself, and then coments that you would normally percieve as harmful are that much easier to ignore or even appreciate
