Techniques to resist sugar...

I do one of a few things to avoid eating that sugary treat...

One (most useful): DON'T BUY THE GODDAMNED SUGARY CRAP
That should definitely take care of the problem!

Two: Picture yourself eating it, then picture yourself looking in the mirror a year from now after indulging in sugary things all year, and realizing that your now officially a fatass and no girls like you.

Three: Eat it, the puke it up (just kiddin, don't really do that)

Four: Eat it, and make sure to do some extra cardio the next day tog et rid of the guilty feeling :-)

If you compete, tape a picture of one of the people you compete against on the fridge. Then, everytime you open the fridge, remind yourself your competition is sticking their diet right now. That usually stops me.

Plus, I just have things like eggs, chicken, and turkey in the fridge - no sugar allowed. Kind of hard to binge on eggs.

Man. That's a sign of a food obsession. You don't have an eating disorder, do you?

Not at all I'm alright, it's just that at times when I feel hungry for cookies and ice cream and I know I can't eat them I just watch others eat them. It's weird. I don't have any probs with dieting nor with self image like people who obsess over food.

Jello FF/Sugar Free Pudding is amazing for killing a sugar crave. When you make it, you put in 3 cups of milk, which is 24 grams of protein. While you're at it, throw in a scoop of whey and you have a good, filling sweet to eat. If you're on a CKD, however, this may not be an option since milk has 11 grams of carbs per serving. If you're not though, eat away!

Why do you have a sugary treat collection in your fridge when you're on a diet? Go give it to your neighbour, then stock up on diet coke and sugar free jello.

Eat a spoon full of nat. peanut butter

Freeze some crystal light then shave it when you get a sweet tooth

I try to stay away from the sugar free puddings or jello but they should help you out...put a spoon ful of guar gum powder in it too. This will make sure that the 'sugar free' (ha ha) stuff doesn't spike your insulin.

Here are my tricks:

The First Line of Defense: Don't have sugary things available. I do the shopping for the household now, and besides the massive amounts of fruit I eat, there is NO SUGAR IN THE HOUSE.

The Second Line of Defense: Shovel something fatty down your throat. It fills me up quickly, and it's a lot easier to get rid of adipose than diabetes.

The Third Line of Defense: Use an alternative. I have no problem with aspartame products. Fruit and sugar-free syrup for my protein pancakes is all the sweetness I need in my life.

Above all work on your will power. You won't even have to worry about this stuff ever mattering.
