Tech Geeks: my printer doesnt work, please give me suggestions

Ive got a Lexmark 510 running XP professional, when I click the print icon nothing at all happens. Ive tried turning the printer on and off and beyond that Im clueless. It was working fine until now by the way. Help?

Are the drivers installed? Is it connected to the PC? Does your computer recognize it?

Check the drivers.

Un plug it for a minute and plug it back in.

Check printer properties and make sure it is the defualt printer and that everything looks allright.

Throw it in the trash and buy a new one, printers are pesky.

I'd restarting the computer before anything. Then I would look into your printers in the control panel to see it the print is active if it stilll wasn't printing. Then I'd make sure it was on and connected.

Does it say "PC LOAD LETTER" on the display ?

Hmmm... judging by the symptoms you described, and not assuming anything, I would say you knocked up the neighbors 15 year old daughter again...

Unplug the usb cable and plug that back into the computer. You should get a message that it is recognized and ready to work.

if none of the above works:
Click Start-Settings-Printers and Faxes
A window will open with a list of your printers, choose your printer from the list and delete it.
Reboot
Windows should detect the printer and install it automatically.

Check your printer list again and see if the printer was added. If not, click on the File Menu and Choose add printer and follow the wizard.
