Tattoos that mean strength...

I am looking to get a tattoo and I don't just want to get something trendy. So I am looking for some type of symbol that means strength. I don't want it to be Chinese writing or anything like that. Do you guys have any ideas. I have thought about a Celtic Cross or Odin's Cross, but those don't really mean strength. I read on one website that the Iron Cross(Maltese Cross) means strength. But I have never read that that is what it meant. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Iron

Its a wire going around your upper arm, the wire looks like its digging into your skin and blood is coming out. My friend has one. ITS the TIGHTEST i have ever seen, he paid about 400$

In all seriousness though, does anyone know anything about the Celtic Cross, or Odin's Cross. I know that the Maltese Cross Originated in the Crusades as it was a symbol for firemen. It was also used as a German War Medal.

There's a guy at my gym who has a tattoo of the muscle structure of his inner bicep/tricep. Just looking at where he has it makes your arms sore, but its pretty cool when he flexes it!
 
I just want the japaneese character for strength between my delts. My buddy wants something similar to what Sassy describes. Good luck with your decision. BTW, where is Murrietta?

Iron Thrower, go to a reputable tattoo artist in your area and discuss it with them. A good artist will take the time and help you with your choice. You can also search the net, their are plenty of resources out there! Remember to take your time, the results will be better. BTW once you get one its hard to stop.
 
alright this is something i have been debating to get, but ill share with you.

i was planning on getting a 45plate (well drawn/shadded/w detail) with the japanese character for "strength" inscribed in the plate the plate is about 1.5 inches in diameter. upper back, between delts.

i dunno, i was also going to get somthing that starts at upper back and decends along the spine, it was supposed to be my philosophy towards life, written in again japanese characters.

but to be honest i always give myself a month or two to think about it, and ususally by that time, not matter how bad i wanted it before, doesnt interest me no longer. so i agree with everybody else, you should wait, then wait some more.

To the guy who knocked tats............Suck one. i have several tattoos all tribal. I am also a product engineer for a major aluminum company. Translation a High paid college educated guy with a tattoo. far from white trash/
 
I got a sun with my daughter name(Tommie Rae) over it and her nickname(Scooterbug) under it in Purple. The sun is a squiggly ray type and its done in red/yellow/orange. Her birthdate is in it in purple, too. I prefer personal power as opposed to a statement of power. If you have it, you don't brag about it. I'd post it but whenever I ask for help I never get it.

Thor's Hammer is a symbol of strength. A dragon is a symbol of strength and wisdom, a Christian Cross is a symbol of strength, the American flag is a pretty good symbol of strength and resolve.

The colloquial use of the word "Tribal," when dsignating a style of tattoo, almost exclusively refers to a (post-) modern adaption of older cultures' abstract blackwork for today. As AMerica seems to be so fragmented into loosely-affilaited "tribes," I find it an apporpiate way to designate this modern art form.
Maori and Polynesian body art is also especially appealing to me. I have seven large tattoos and am about to get my eighth large work. To get a Maori or similar design would be a way of displaying affiliation with tattooed people throughout history, just as I claim strength athletes as members of my xtended family/"tribal" affiliation.
Oh yes, I am an upper middle class Internet worker of Jewish descent. Not white trash.

It's your body and your beliefs, fuck what anyone else thinks. You are your own man and you have to answer to no one but that face that stares back to you in the mirror
 
Never thought I'd get one. I planned to exit this life with the same bland, unadorned body I came into it with. But I gotta admit, I'm thinking about it. I've seen a few that I like a lot.

I think you're right to stay away from the trends. If this will be with you for the rest of your life, get something that means something to you.
 
Thor's hammer is a symbol of strength I have one in the middle of my back. Also look into the viking runic alphabet for some of the symbols of strength.
 
I found a few warrior tats that looked appealing but I'll wait till I progress in the army before I get one...I have one in mind but I have to earn a special place before I would even consider getting a tat related to it

i'm assuming that you're disregarding remarks from people insulting tattoo wearers, so i won't bother suggesting that you do that. as far as originality, in the world of tats, that can be pretty hard to come by. i have a tribal band around my ankle that i know is unique because it's a free drawn abstract. when you're looking at symbols, though, you're narrowing your amount of options.

scotsman had a point with the runic symbols. i remember them being kind of basic, but they can be tricked out just like anything. also, check out the gaelic alpabet/vocab. you might have to research that one a bit.

when i was in special forces training in the army, there was this exchange student from estonia. this guy was a fucking stud. he had a tat of some commando types emerging from smoke, and one of a warrior with a shield. on that shield was the celtic cross i think you're looking into. he said the cross was a symbol used by the protective detail to their country head 9whatever he's called.)

asian symbols are no longer original, but you can trick them out as well, just like writing graffiti in english. one of the coolest tats i ever saw was across the traps. a word written in egyptian or saudi or something. the letters were slightly "tribalized" and it was bad ass.


to texas college kid, what are you trying to earn in the army?

one last thing- what's up with being banned from viewing pics. did everyone else pay to do this. it seems like it turns the members into "haves and have nots".
i need my fix of jenbflchick!
 
A pic of you face(nose bleeding and red eyes), traps(bulging), neck(veins like a garden hose, and shoulders with 800 lbs bowing across your back. Now that would be nice!
 
i want to get the romeo and juliet heart with a crown around it and rays shooting out. on my lower back. it'll be tight

put brick on end of stick.

fasten tightly with hay bailing twine or other primitive looking string.

hit hard surface to chip edges of brick.

draw hammer. ;)

Props to weapon x....Have any pics of your work? Mine where all free hand tribal. i have three on my back(upper) I will get the rest of the work done this winter so that it will look like one large tribal design. I will probally get a few more.. I am totally satisfiedwith the ink that i wear. I drew the art and i am proud to wear the designs that i created.


As for the Ass...........Well you are just not worth the effort.
 
the world is changing......

i am a silent partner in an extremely successfull tattoo and body piercing shop; and am pleastanly suprised at the range of our customers.

the people that walk through our door encompasses the entire social spectrum. doctors, lawyers, 3 piece suit pofessionals, college students, middle age housewives, police, fire fighters, retirees are all getting inked and pierced today.

the concept that only bikers and low life white trash get tattooed and pieced is untrue and inaccurate.

our shop is a clean, well lit, tastefully decorated place of business. strict sanitation and perpetual devotion to cleanliness is our creed.

our repeat customers and personal referrals is a testament to our abilities.

certain close-minded, fixed idea individuals need to join the new century.
