For me restricting water just doesn't work, I have tried it a couple of times. I do a low carb diet during contest prep, about 100 to 125 grams a day 300 to 350 grams of protein and about 60 grams fat. I don't carb deplete because I'm carb depleted as it is. On thursday night I have a good meal ex. 50% carbs 30% protein 20% fats. I will have two or three meals on friday. Friday afternoon I will go to the hotel room with a 12 pack of diet rite red raspberry soda, I have already taken 1 diurex early in the day. I then start drinking all 12 cans of soda over a 4 to 5 hour peroid, around 10 I take 2 more diurex. Soon I start pissing, I'm bloated as hell when I go to bed I wake up (pissing through the night) really fricken hard. I do not sodium load, I also do not restrict sodium. This works well for me , I've experimented for a few years before I got this method down. It also has worked with a number of people that I have helped prep for shows. I get very lean before a show as I'm sure that this matters.
