tanning question

Just to clarify a few things since this post doesn't really make any sense....

Tanning is a result of increased melanin production in your skin, and a darkening of their pigment.

Burning is a result of non enough of those being present to absorb the UV rays coming trhough and the radiation does damage (burns it ) to the tissue.

Tanning accelerators work by either ampifying the effect of the radiation, or they increase the amount of melanin in your skin, starting out first by incrasing the number melanocytes.

Skin cancer is frequently a case of a melanocyte (could be spelling all of this wrong) getting hit by UV radation and mutating - they are most susceptible to this when they are young - so by using a tanning agent that increases the number of these you are increasing your chances of skin cancer.

SPF is not a substance, it is a rating. It is the length of time you can be in the sun before burning with the substance on you divided by the length of time that you can be in the sun without the product on before burning.
A high SPF means that it protects the same as a lower SPF, but it does so for longer.
There is no way that anything can contain SPF, that is like saying a cigarette contains a surgen general warning.

So what you essentially asked was how you could increase your tanning ability, by blocking your ability to tan, and does anything have the ability to do this...

It was all a contradition in terms on so many levels.

That said, you can buy a cream, lotion, foam, and a spray that will basically be a tan in a bottle - it will make you look orangey tan and they in fact sometimes do also block the UV rays, so they in fact have an SPF (but can in no way contain an SPF within them since that is just not feasible).
Those for the most part don't work very well and look very obviously fake.

do they make tanning accelerators with spf in them?

lol.....thats defeating the purpose. i'd love to sit here and give you the ins and outs of tanning but i'm tired so i'll give you the cliff's notes.

there are 3 types of uv rays. uva, uvb, and uvc. regular beds have a higher concentration of uvb and even a bit of uvc. those are the short rays and those are the rays that burn you. a medium pressure bed (vhr) has a higher concentration of uva (about 97%) with little uvb and no uvc. the rays penetrate deeper thus resulting in a deeper tan that you only have to maintain once or twice a week once your base tan is established. you wont burn in the medium pressure bed if you go for the right amount of time. in regular beds, its quite common to burn a little b/c of the uvb and uvc rays.

get yourself a good lotion. they are expensive cuz they actually help protect your skin now. so dont bitch about the price. some have tingle, some dont, some have bronzers, some dont. if you dont like tingle shit but like bronzers.....i recommend designer skin "mystere" or bipolar or neurotic (forgot who makes these two).
