guys, if you look at the values on the back of your multi vitamins ( i use o.n. opti-men) the values are pretty much all way over your daily need. then why in the hell does it say to take 2? i think it may be just to get you buying more product, but i could be wrong. is there any real hardcore reason why i should be taking two instead of just 1 multi? what do you guys think.

Well I take SuperNutrition or some brand like that multi-vitamin/mineral that also has a bunch of herbal stuff in it which I like. I take the max dosage of 6 pills a day. A serving size is 3, but they recommend 6 for optimal energy and help in recuperation. Not sure if they just want you to use more to buy more, but I usually take ALOT of vitamins/minerals so I know I'm NEVER lacking in any of them and most are not toxic unless you get into silly stupid mega doses. It won't hurt you to take 2 and you're prolly better off taking 3 depending on how strong the formulation is. If everything is 100% to 200% more than the RDA than you're fine with 2-3. Remember, bodybuilders, strength athletes and anyone that subjects there body to higher than every day normal stress needs more of this stuff than your average sedentary joe, ya know? I also like GNC Mega Men's multi even though it is a GNC product(the only one I will buy). Also, unless you're ridiculously poor, don't be such a tight wad with your multi. Buy a good one with extra stuff like herbs an phytochemicals and stuff. But if you are concerned with the money, then go to your local grocery store and buy some Centrum and take 2-3X recommended dosage. I don't usually advise going over a manufacturers recommendations or if it will become unhealthy, but with vitamins/minerals, it's hard to take too much lol. Heck, I took a multi with 20,000 iu of vitamin A at 4X a day I think for like 5 months with no problems. That's like 80,000 iu a day lol. Not to mention I was drinking a gallon of milk a day at the time too which prolly brought my total up to 100,000+ iu a day. So you see, it's hard to over do it. IMHO, a GOOD quality multi-vitamin/mineral is the #1 priority supplement for a bodybuilder after a solid diet. Then Whey protein, creatine, L-glutamine and prohormones.

I take the recommended dosage (2 pills) in the morning... and then after working out I take another dosage. I use the ON multi... Opti-Men. Its got a lot of everything in it. Its def worth getting you multi's in

a 2 a day is better than a 1 a day IMO. You get 2 rounds of vitamins and minerals during the day and better absorption this way as well.

The reason for a 2 pill serving size has to do with physics. It's impossible to cram that much material into a pill of acceptable size. For example, the largest capsule size in production holds a mere 1111mg of material (and thats a big capsule). Now if your taking a glucosamine/chondroitin product and it has 1000mg of glucosamine and 1000mg of chondroitin then your serving size is going to be 2 capsules:each capsule@500mg of glucosamine and 500mg of chondroitin. By the way, as far as taking two multi's I really noticed a big difference while on a low carb diet with 2 multi's. I've tried'em all (including Opti-Men) and Source Naturals Advanced One is by far and away the best. I take one or two a day (depending on how I feel) in the morning. At night I'll hit an Animal Pak. I feel that this keeps me anabolic (along with other things) while I'm cutting up. A little tip I use, and I have no scientific baisis for this, is that while dieting my piss turns clear then I know to up my multi until I get my flourescent piss color back. Tells me I have sufficient vitamins/minerals.

I take Quest SUPER STRESS vitamins with a Mega B Complex plus 1000mg Vitamin C, not great but not bad for the price, I get 120 pills for about $20, it has:

Vitamin C 1000 mg
Vitamin B-1 50mg
Vitamin B-2 50mg
Niacinamide 50mg
Pantothenic Acid 50mg
Vitamin B-6 50mg
Folic Acid 1mg
Vitamin B-12 50mg
Biotin 50mg
Lipotropic Factors 50mg
Choline Bitartrate 50mg
Inositol 50mg

PABA 50mg

Not that great but not bad either, its missing others but I make up for it in foods and such ... I probably should get a better vitamin supp ... but hey if you want to know what good vitamin supps looks like VS bad or below avg vitamin supps ...here you go :P

I take 2 pills three times per day. There are two reasons to do this. The first being that a lot of the multi is not absorbed into your system and that is why the dosage is higher then the RDA. The second is that a taking a multi should be like eating, you do not eat all of your food one time in the morning and expect it to last all day so you should not take all of your vitamins one time in the morning and expect them to last all day.
