New member
ok..a friend of mine is pretty bad his whole leg is swollen after a injection in his quad in his 3rd week on. i always go to my quad and only once had a problem. which i used furazone <sp> to sweat it and i was fine the next day. this however did not work for him. if there are any ideas please share.

heres the info:
>claims used clean pin and cleaned stopper on vial
>cleaned inj site
>sore the next day(post inj)
>thigh was swollen in 2 days
>knee was sore
>knee became swollen and now calf 3 days
>ibuprofren brings down the swelling
>swelling goes down at night then returns
>he had been icing it---i told him to use heating pad
>dont think abcess because no lump
>said thigh feels "tight" but doesnt hurt to squeeze or massage it
>used something called TESTEXX TE300 2cc inj.
>inj was on sunday it is now fri

thanks for the help in advance

i just saw his leg....it feels like a hard water ballon it is very warm and red, when you put pressure on it and release the skin is white then gets flush red again like a sunburn. he is considering taking amoxicillin<sp> antibiotic to combat a possible infection. advisable?

amoxcilan is safe to start, I am curious if he has had a fever or felt sick.

Amoxicillan wont hurt anything bro, but hot baths and ridink a bike might help loosen it as well. Stationary or regular bike, it does not matter, but the more he uses the leg (if possible) the better it will get.

post pics if possible, and if discomfort continues after being antibiotics for a few days he may need to have it drained.

Did he go deep enough into the muscle?
A friend botched a quad injection one time that sounds similiar. 2 cc's of Primo. Kept pulling the needle out slowly because it was hurting his leg so bad. I speculate that there was quite a bit that didn't get into his muscle as deep as it should. His quad was crippled for almost 2 weeks. But everyday it SLOWLY got better, so he didn't sweat it too much, just watched it very closely. Only happened in his thigh, though, not down into his calf.

the amox seemed to help it it going down slowly and it makes me curious about not going deep enough because he said now that its going down the inj site is a little bruised. thanks for the info ill keep you posted.

I have had a similar reaction to my quad injections...a day or so after the injection my knee will swell a lil and be warm to the touch...usually goes away after a couple of days...think something in the gear is irritating to my joints...went back to glute shots to avoid the discomfort
