Supplements (Vitamin C in particular) in tablets vs. powder

I just purchased some calcium ascorbate powder and started using it. I use to take the 500 mg chewable vitamin c after I workout. I'm just wondering if there's any difference in powder vs. tablets in regard to the effects and safety?

With all the bad news about Vitamin C, I'm wondering if putting pure powder on my tongue that swallowing and probably getting fast absorption is more harmful than taking a tablet, which I would imagine takes longer to dissolve and consequently not be absorbed as quickly.
 
Vitamin C is a cheap and useful supplement

As long as you don't over consume it (>2-3 g/day) there is no worrying

and IMHO tablets = powder compacted
same effect, same time to be absorbed
