Supplements to use (Protein, Vitamins)

Okay guys, I just wanted to post this thread so we can get some input off you guys.

I told my buddy I use Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey gold standard. Price $140 after tax's here in Ontario, Canada @ SND Canada.

ON Protein has 155 servings, 24 grams protein.

Now is there anything "better" since according to my friend, he claims this proteins very crappy and I'm being ripped off. I've been using it for 4-5 years now, I notice it is cheap quality (I dont know why) but, servings are lot for 24grams, and being a University student price/serving matters. Though this protein use to be $90 last year or 2 ago, now $140 is just overkill.

Is there any place that I'd get over 150 servings, 25grams + and have a good quality protein? and be able to order it to Canada and beat the Optimum Nutritions 10LB whey that costs me $140 w/ tax?

2nd question would be, Multi-Vitamins. I told this kid Animal Pak is the best vitamines on this planet apparently. He highly doubts me and told me to post on Elite Fitness and question you guys. So what do you think? Is it cheap? or the best you can get?

I use strive's Pro Vit (also like animal pak but just a bit less on the profile) and Animal Pak.

Protein grams can be misleading. Some protein, such as soy, is missing essential aminos.

Whey concentrate, (common in MRP's) is rated 100% but it's really only 75% useable protein.

Hydrolyzed doesn't require digestion so it's more absorbable but it doesn;t taste that great.

Super plasma protein is the most utilized of all since goes directly into the bloodstream.

Then there are other factors such as aminogen, digestive enzymes, etc, etc.

Ever hear of BIG BLAST?

ON isn't a bad cheap protein.

Animal pak is an inferior product for the price. Go to the EF store and check out DX7 -- it's the Rolls Royce of multi's.

ON has good protein although you may be able to find even cheaper. Whey Concentrate is cheap and, if you don't have a lactose intolerance, then it's fine. The absorption is a little less than that of a WPI or WPH but the small amount increase in absorption of the "higher" quality wheys isn't worth the price.

One way to conserve money is to use Whey in the morning once you wake up and post workout. Don't use it at any other time of day. Whole-food is always better during the day than a fast absorbing whey like Optimum.

Animal Pak is overkill. I love Universal, but animal pak is outdated.

I get what you mean about the Using Optimum less (Morning/post-workout), thats the only time I use it, actually, I dont even use it in the morning, My plans pretty well balanced with Carbs in the morning and protein comes from chicken breast. The only time I drink protein is in one of my meals which needs it, is probably meal 2, and after workout. Other than that, it's 2 times a day and rest of the protein is from heavy chicken breast throughout the day. :P

And for Animal Pack being outdated, does everyone agree DX-7 is the best now? lol
Because DX-7's profile seems way smaller than what Animal Pak gives, but who knows.

I understand what you mean. Maybe when I'm working in my career I can buy unlimited amount of ultra high quality protein lol.

Hows this one sound compared to the Optimum's whey?

ProteinFactory.com: 10 lb Whey Protein

It seems ALOT cheaper too, and its 10lb's at $40 US compared to 10lb's at $140 CND.

The 10 lb PF protein is a budget line protein as well. Not the best, but a good bargain.

I don;t see how you can say DX7 has a smaller profile than Animal Pak. It's more complete and has better dosages. It's 4 small pills instead of six big ones. (You can use only 2 a day -- making each bottle a 2 month supply) It doesn't have some of the bullshit ingredients but has more valuable ones.

Really eh? Yeah, I dont know much about Multi-Vits, I just see the list on the Animal Pak and was like whaa, this stuffs must be good if they give you all these.

But the DX7 looks good now that you mention it, since its packed with "important" vitamins I suppose, and taking 2 a day would be amazing since it would last 2 months. :|

Thanks alot bro! :D

Animal Pak is garbage imo. Your typical kitchen sink supp. Dx7 looks like a great multi and the price is right.
