Supersize Me !

I saw it a while back, and man is it eye opening.

Ive only eaten there once since then and that was post hangover!

I used to eat there like 3 times a week and also take my kids there, but i wont touch the stuff now.

The funny thing is while your watching it and hes telling you how much weight hes gained, how much his cholesterol has risen and the headaches and withdrawal symptoms he having. You still think to yourself, "man that looks good" how mad is that!!!!

Good show tho, everyone should see it, then re-assess how they eat.

I worked at McDonald's as a teenager so I'd never eat there just cuz of that.... the stuff we had to do to get the food ready is in one word: GROSS

Funny you should say that about eating there with your kids. McDonalds try’s to get kids at a young age with the clowns and play areas so the associate McDonalds food with good childhood memory’s, than they eat there more often as adults.

I like when Morgan Spurlock, producer/director/guinea pig of Super Size Me says when he has kids they way he will keep that from happening is “ Every Time I Drive By A McDonald’s I will Punch my kid'(s)” Just joking of course

I'm listening....

Well, let's see:

The drain in the cook area would always back up, so we'd be standing in about 1-2 inches of water & grunge..... drop the food in it, pick it up & put it back on the tray & serve it.....

The food was supposed to be rotated ever 10 minutes -- ie: tossed away...eh, just change the number on it & serve it anyway....

I ALWAYS dropped food on the floor -- picked it up & used it anyway.

As employees we'd always cook our own food to order, as the other stuff was just NASTY!!

serves you right for eating that shit!!! Go get them Jen!!!

Sometimes it really helps to visualize something gross to get you out of the craving for junk food... Doesn't always work, but, hey! it's worth a shot

But all that stuff is really what I did when I worked there....

OH!! And the temp in the cooking area in summer was always 100 degress F + & we'd take the burgers out of the freezer & just set them down in boxes on the floor, thawing.....for hours....

that's sad.

Yes, it was & still is very sad...... but she was about 21, very old & very sick..... and she told me she was ready.... but I miss her... :rose:

If you didn't know McD's was nasty before seeing supersize me, seeing the french fries looking perfect after months go by while everything else decomposed was enough for me. (It is in the extras, and it is nasty)

Bluesman

The guy in that movie in add. to high cholestrol, high bp, and everything else, he also had tons of fat spots on his liver!, thats nothing to f around with!

Never again...

I havnt seen the film but have been meaning to take it out for a while. I cant remember how long it is since Ive eaten fast food, Due to my training my diet has just become cleaner and cleaner to the point where I just never even think about junk. Like Paolo the last time I probably had anything from any of these junk houses would be post hangover.

What was funny was him barfing up the food just a few days in of having it.

I didn't eat McD's before watching it and afetr I certainly won't start.

Not sure if you guys have touched base on this movie/documentary yet, but its worth seeing again if you thing Fast Food is “Ok” every once in a while.

All I can say is wow! I'll never eat at "Any Fast Food" place again.

I saw it last week for the first time, ughh! I always hated fast food, now I especially do!

Well, except for Wendy's frosties....mmmmm frosty...

So true...you really notice the effects when you have a really clean diet. I ate some fast food two days ago for the first time in ~ 6 mos. I was sick all damn day! :toilet:

Never mind the movie. Check out the book "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser (they guy in the special features part of the SSM DVD that's interviewed by Morgan).

That book will, if not make you swear off processed meat, at least keep you within 100 yards of a fast food joint for the rest of your natural born life-life-life..life......life...(insert echo here).

Funny, despite all the claims (backed by research and meticulous notes) NO ONE TO DATE has filed a lawsuit for slander, liable, whatever against Mr. Schlosser. Percieved reason - his stuff IS accurate and his conclusions logical and therefore would come out in court as a matter of public record. Keep in mind that McDonalds sues at the drop of a hat.

One of the most informed and best backed books on the nation's nutrition I've ever read. Hell even ol Morgan clearly defers to Mr. Schlosser in the interview.

Yeah, I've always had trouble getting my Big Macs lit. LOL!!

Wouldn't surprise me if there's some shredded memos regarding nutritional research by McDonalds...remember those memos of PMs that came out...

duh, da duh! <insert sinister background music>

Yeah, that movie was an eye opener. I'll never go back.

Now Arby's, that's some good tasting shit. I'd guess just as bad, right?

Arbys probably isnt quite AS BAD as Mcdonalds, just speaking from the meat aspect. French fries in general are disgusting. I worked at a mcdonalds in high school too, i've never seen the "Supersize me" movie, but i can speak from personal experience what all that crap does to you. Of course back then i used to drink alcohol too, so it cant be contributed solely to fast food. I havent touched fastfood since my divorce 3 yrs ago (long story, short version: she didnt work, cook, clean, etc, therefore it was fast food or nothing unless i wanted to go straight from work to housework/cooking) and since then i've lost 90 lbs, and could stand to lose maybe 10-15 more. Working at mcdonalds, as well as burger king, sonic, and taco bell (yeah i had a bad run of jobs lol) i have seen tons of nasty stuff, and done a few of them lol. at mcdonalds, cooking the fries, nuggets, fish, chicken in the same oil repeatedly for God knows how long, is disgusting. And she's right about how we always custom made our own food so we didnt have to use the stuff laying around all day til customers ordered it.
