I was thinking of trying this routine...what do you think?

http://www.ironworkout.com/20_rep_squat.htm

looks nice, I think somewhere at like my 5th workout I might fail, but I'll just keep doing the same weight til' I get it and go on to the next. I was thinking of starting with 125lb x 20 and eventually working to 170...no matter how many tries at the workout it takes. But this looks really simple and that's what I like about it. What do you guys think?

I do high rep squats as well....legs can take the high reps....

I think it'd build me some nice maxes on squat, and prolly on deadlift too. And since the other stuff is all basically til' failure 3 times your upper body gets a killing too. so I think I'm gonna do this after my 8 week 5x5 that starts next week.

Way back in the day I had chicken legs. Really skinny and it was hard to put on mass.

I started out by doing normal squats and saw some progress.

I then had a partner and we would do 5 sets of squats. 4 normal ones and then the LAST one which was a mutherfucker. We would do as many reps as possible with a weight we could do 8-10 reps, then drop the weight, then do as many reps as possible, the drop the weight again, and repeat, until we couldn't do normal squats without any weight. Typically I would literally roll over with the bar on my shoulders on the last set in agonizing pain.

Walking home was a bitch too. It was up hill. That brings back some memories.

Anyway, my legs grew, and so did the rest of my body. I went from 155 to 180 in about 6 months (and this was without gear).

High rep squats kill the legs.

I'm shooting for a Front Squat of 225 + light bands x 20 before 2008. I did 405 + bands last Sunday and then passed out.

My legs also responded well to high rep squats.

Try this once in a while:

For time complete 7 sets of 135 lb. squats.
(Your goal is to get as many reps as you can in as little time possible)

It might look something like this:
25, 22, 20, 19, 19, 15, 15 in 10:53

looking at that, i'd imagine a barf bag would be handy!

Short version; Lactic acid promotes the gain of slow twitch (endurance fiber) and loss of fat twitch (strength and size)

Long Version; (Might be slightly off, been a bit since I last addressed this material) Your body creates lactic acid when fast twitch fibers are used. In short bursts, your body quickly rids of the acid. During long bouts, your body can't keep up and lactic acid builds up. Your body then tries to compensate by utilizing aerobic processes to clean up. Incase you don't know, slow twitch muscles are aerobic, fast twitch muscles are anaerobic. Your aerobic(slow twitch) muscles utilize some type of chemical reaction which then turns the lactate into something else which is then used in the Krebs cycle to produce more glucose/atp.

When your body reaches uncomfortable levels of lactic acid, it gets the message that it needs to react by limiting the lactate output and increasing it's ability to rid itself of lactic acid. In layman's; less anaerobic(fast twitch/body builders and athletes), more aerobic(slow twitch/saggy marathon runner)

Don't quote me for homework assignments, but that is the gist.

I start with low rep squats then medium rep leg press then high rep extensions and curls and high rep calves.

Ah... Super Squats... That program is a sure fire way to add mass to your whole body. If you have the mental toughness that is. A good rule of thumb is if you can squat it for ten reps then you should be able to get twenty. It is all about the breathing. Don't forget to drink the gallon of milk a day and if you are really crazy you will supplement that gallon of milk with 3-5 liverwurst sandwiches a day.

Thanks man, I think I'll try it, but I can't afford to drink a gallon of milk per day. But I'll be taking some Ethyk Ester and Whey for supplements and I'll be eating plenty. I think I might try this for like 3 weeks or so. Looks kinda tough.

If you can afford ethyl whatever and whey then you should be able to afford milk. Even a half gallon will make a difference. One half gallon of 2% is around an extra 1000kcal a day. How many kcal are you getting from the ethyk whey?? Priorities man...
