Super Size Me!

Anyone see the movie?
It's out on cable now for us normal people,
Great show,
I haven't eaten fast food in a couple of years now,
but it's scarry.
They market that shit like drugs or something.

What do you eat out at?
For me it's just Sushi , Pho Soup , and maybe the occasional buffet where I scarff on shrimp McDonalds actually smells bad too me , even when I drive by it.

Very entertaining documentary-but should be taken with a grain of salt. No doubt fast food is shit, but Spurlock killed his credibility when his cable show 28 days aired a story of a 30 something guy that did pro-hormones, test, and gh as age reversal therapy for a 28 day period(hence the program name...). Within a couple weeks the guy claimed to have elevated liver enzymes and became sterile. He never even finished the 28 days-blaming the roids for fucking up his health-in spite of looking and feeling better than he had in years.

Anyway, I'm a Whopper w/ no mayo guy after 9PM but if a Teryaki chicken place is open it's always my 1st choice. I order a side salad w/ it and only eat a few tablespoons of the rice since there's a lot of sugary carbs in the sauce.

Yeah its crazy how many people actually think 28 days of juice is way worse on your body than 28 days of MacDonalds for every meal. Yeah right.

Pizza is my weakness. There is nothing like a good pizza. Most fast food leaves me feeling half dead...

I have found that I can eat fast food for every meal of the day. And have the Mcdonalds apple pies throughout they day for fill in snacks. They way I am able to keep of my physique is because I will always have the DIET Coke and that seems to balance things out..........lmao..... Just stay away from the fast food scene completely and you will be much better off

There is some truth to that I think. By far the most fattening shit on earth is sugar-ful soda. It should have a consumer warning label on it just like the diet versions do.

In the movie the nutritionist he was going to told him that almost half the calories he was taking in were from the regular Coke's and the super sized Coke's he was drinking with every meal.

People think that because it's a liquid with no fat that it can't be fattening. It's amazing how many people just don't know the damage sugar can do to your body. And not just weight gain either.

I don't think that most American's actually like the fast food per say..... I think the biggest factor that makes them eat it all the time is that it's FAST.... Most people get only 30-60mins for lunch, so hitting a Mcdonalds is easier then making your own lunch that day.... I know from my own personal expierence that when I'm not dieting, and I'm trying to figure out what to eat, ordering some fast food is appealing cause there is no cooking involved.... No cooking, no clean up, it's just appealing to some....

I am one that believes the Fast Food places should be selling healthier foods..... I don't think American's are addicted to burgers and fries and Lg Cokes, I think that is just what the fast food joints are selling..... I'd much rather be able to hit a Mcdonalds, and order a supersized Chicken and Broccoli platter..... If the fast food joints had healthier food, people wouldn't have a choice to eat junk..... It's the ease of going out and ordering that Americans are addicted to..... That's my take on it anyway.....

I think it's more the fact that people eat for taste as opposed to eating for nutritional value and function. Sodium and sugar makes stuff taste good to most-otherwise the salads available would have a meal # of their own like the other not so healthy menu choices.

The nutritionist also told him that he was getting twice the calories he needed on a daily basis (he stopped all exercise).

My guess is that most of the health problems he saw on the McD's diet were due to too many calories period.

The movie also showed a tall thin man that eats 2-3 Big Macs a day; his cholesterol was 145. I'm not saying you could be a ripped bodybuilder eating McDonalds every day but I'll bet a man could be reasonble healthy eating McDonalds 3 meals a day if he payed attention to his diet.

eating mcdonalds 3 meals a day isn't really paying attention to your diet, lol
but if you mean eating lots of fruits and vegetables on top of that, then yes, but it wouldn't be pretty.

My thesis is that you could eat nothing but McDonald's 3 meals a day as long as you ate the correct amount of calories, fat, and protein; and be healthier than the average over-weight American.

Certainly it's not the healthiest way to eat; virtually no fiber or fruits and vegatbles but our culture is already woefully lacking in those areas.

My weakness is Chinese....chicken/w broccoli...general tso...etc...manhattan is known for its top chinese quisine, so its hard not to indulge once in a while...I'm just wondering if a order of lo mein or chicken w/ broc is as bad as a happy meal.

being an ecto, i can say i think pizza is one the most perfect foods. carbs/protein and tastes good.

If I have to eat fast food, then usually I'll go to Wendy's and go for the grilled chicken breast sandwich and get chilli instead of fries and a side salad. My real weakness is for Taco Bell and I usually hit that about once per month, but I don't go crazy and I keep the portion size down. I haven't had anything bud diet soda in years.

As for pizza, I bet I have that once or twice per week, but I have a smaller portion with turkey pepperoni. I supplement the meal with a piece of fruit and some low fat yogurt. If you're a pepperoni fan, try the turkey pepperoni. I thought it would be gross, but I tried it any way and it turned out to be a tasty low fat alternative.

My body fat is holding at about 6.7 %, so it must be working OK for me.

another taco bell guy lol, as for keeping the portion size down does that include 4 of the 1/2lb beef and potato burritos cuz thats what i cave and get everytime LMAO......i better stop talking about it before i kill my diet :p

I saw the movie, and didn't eat at McDonald's for months afterward. I still can't really bring myself to associate happy feelings with eating there, either.

The lack of existence of stray cats in the neighborhood is another red flag.

"Ooohh, that's a pretty big cat you got there, buddy. How about you give him to me? 20% discount on the all you can eat buffet for you and your friends!"

But seriously, this is all about choices: I read the book, and sure, I can see how somebody could trash their health McEating(tm). It is possible to grab a fairly healthy meal there, just like you can at Wendy's, and not completely eff up your diet.

I own my own restaurant serving mainly chicken. I watched Super Size Me and it was the funniest damn movie I had ever seen at that point(Waiting wins over everything now). I hate Mcd's with a passion, I would never eaten there now. I have eaten there a total of 8 times in my life and those were when I was little. Fuck Mcd's.

nice to hear bro, i'm a pizza fan too, and i'm currently at 6.7% also (which is high for me

Macdonalds / KFC / etc... = layer of fat on stomach = angry me in the mirror = stick to eating tons and tons.... of home cooked food.. or grilled chicken take out.. even the odd pizza, but deep fried and mac synthetic etc... a big big no NOOOOOOO!!!!!

Mickey D's in Oz is actually doing lots to clean up the menu. Lotta choices and the healthy ones are actually that! Nutritional advice on all the food wrappers too!
Can't beat homemade multigrain Pizza though...... Argghh Pizza.

Im not the most creative guy in the world.... so im sure some of you already do this. I love ordering a Large Cheese Pizza. While i wait for it to arrive.. I boil 2 lbs of chicken. I then layer the pizza with big chunks of chicken. Lotz of protein and calories and of course taste. It's the way I cheat.

I own the SuperSize Me DVD.... and show it to my friends that always talk about losing weight... but do nothing about it. Of course.... it backfired on one of my friends. He actually started craving a Quarter Pounder Meal half way through the movie.
