Hell yes, someone who feels my pain. When I stand completely upright at the end of a deadlift, the bar is about 2 inches above my root. So I have to either hold the bar away from myself a little bit, or I end up scraping my nuts and dick with the bar as it passes. I have seen a lot of really good deadlifters that lock out a deadlift and the bar is just a little bit above their knees. Well my bar is locked out a little above my dick, and that does not make for a good deadlifter.
As I said above, I know I will never be a good deadlifter, but shit, I am not very happy with a deadlift 100 lbs less than my bench, or more. I would like to enter a 3 lift meet, but I would be getting my ass kicked by novice teen women in the 123 class, and that is just a little bit tough for this macho man to deal with. I currently compete bench only, and have considered scrapping the deadlift training altogether, but I am still experimenting and hope to stumble on to some revelation which will unlock whatever hidden deadlift power I might have. I thought that revelation might be sumo style, but after trying it a few times, I am far worse with it than conventional. Oh well, sucks to be me.
