Summer in the South

PHATchik

Studio Gangsta
YOU KNOW YOU ARE IN THE SOUTH in AUGUST WHEN...

The birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.

The trees are whistling for the dogs.

The best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.

Hot water now comes out of both taps.

You can make sun tea instantly.

You learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.

The temperature drops below 95 and you feel a little chilly.

You discover that in July it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car.

You discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.

You actually burn your hand opening the car door.

You break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 a.m.

Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death?"

You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.

The potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper.

Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.

The cows are giving evaporated milk.

I would welcome about 6 months of this right now.

Try living in hades... I mean Texas.

You don't know heat and humidity till you've lived here.

I took a trip to San Antonio about 3 years ago. Trust me, I was just glad I was there before summer really hit hard.

I was in Ok once during the summer..pretty bad - humidity was low though

That's why I will never again buy another car with leather seats as long as I am living here. :bawling:

Try pulling up to a stop light on a motorcycle and putting your feet down in hot asphault or even worse, hot motor oil. It makes it a bit of a challenge trying to keep your feet on the foot pegs when you start moving again.:(

Current weather for the next 4 months in FL..

STEAM ROOM hot in the early morning, Scarry Thunderstorms at 4pm, then Real Steamy in the afternoon, warm and muggy overnight with a 90% change of mosquitoes.

It's chilly and rainy here, so I wouldn't mind a little sunshine myself. :bawling:

You forgot the last one. Phatchick walking around topless. Show us some pics of you topless.

IS there any place hotter?

South Carolina.

The humidity is what kills me. I can handle heat but not humidity along with it. Not to mention the mosquitos as big as birds and gnats that swarm around in groups.

Sometimes, the gnats get so bad, I have to cut a hole in my crotch just to get them away from my face.

or you could move to california and stop complaining :D

Houston gets hotter than hell. Opening your car door in the afternoon is like sticking your face in an oven.

That sounds about right...however you left out that the sun will be shining during the thunderstorm to keep the steam room effect going.

I'm very ready for those days of summer. I'm sick of this rain. Especially since I am now getting to deal with a damn cough that came from going out in the rain yesterday. It's almost June, so I really don't want to be sick. It just seems wrong somehow.

i would trade summer where ya'll are for summers here in nawlinz in a heartbeat!!!!

i'm cumming up there in 2 weeks (as my broly's wife will be outta town), looking forward to the climate change.

spring here lasted for about 14 hours this year; already it's hot and humid here (ask cas!)

i have ya'll's weather page on my computer favorite list; i check it and groan to myself as i smack my forehead lightly.:bawling:

I'll be down in Houston this summer. You'll have to come specific b/c there are 3 24 Hrs on Westheimer. I trained at one in a plaza type thing with a whole bunch of shit around it and a giant Old Navy.

Is the one on Richmond the one thats in the middle of the city in a busy ass area?
