Summer Bulk

Here are my problems with bulking during Summer.

1. It's only warm during the Summer in this part of the country meaning this is the only time to show skin, I want my abs.

2. It gets hot and humid during the Summer making it annoying to cook all those meals.

3. Being bloated from eating large amounts of food makes me feel even crappier when out in the sun enjoying my girlfriends pool.

4. Cutting in Spring for Summer is a tradition in bodybuilding, it would be like celebrating Christmas in July.

5. I like to save my guilt free gorges for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.

I'm bulking.....but to me bulking is not get fat....it's gaining lean muscle slowly.....I always try to stay at around 8-9 % bf.......

Excellent response.
You can bulk without turning into a fat bloated pig...some people just use BULKING for an excuse to eat junk...you can bulk with high protein, essential fats and mod-low carbs....

True that, however, no matter what you do you are going to gain fat. If you dont gain some, you are not eating enough IMO.

very true but it never gets out of hand.....

Agreed...no one said you had to turn into a lard ass, but truth is, you gotta pound the calories, which is a job in itself, esp. in the heat....just wondering who is NOT severely restricting carbs, of which 99% of the board appears to be doing......eat up!

It is kind of difficult going from one extreme to the other. Bodybuilders seem to be extreme people who don't want a middle ground. We have to have an all or nothing approach. If we diet we starve ourselves, if we bulk we eat like fatasses. I agree with gilly about maintaining a degree of leanness year round. Hell with getting fat, anybody can do that. I want to look big and solid, not smooth. Just my opinon.
