are there any good online articles on the selection and use of supportive powerlifting gear?

im starting to look for a suit and shirt.

You may want to go to elitefts.com and go to the ask dave section. He knows a lot.

Before buying equipment, you need to figure out what kind is allowed in the organization you are lifting in. I don't know what kind of organizations you have down under, but wherever you are planning on lifting, they will have some sort of equipment rules. Make sure to find out what is allowed. If it allowed, I would suggest getting a double denim open back shirt from Karin's Power wear, or Inzer, and a canvas squat suit from Frantz, or a Hardcore squat suit from Inzer, or a denim squat suit from Karin's.

IPF and NASA will only allow single ply poly, I think, where some of the other organizations will allow denim, canvas, multiple layers etc...

Find out for sure, because they don't give equipment away, and If you are going to compete in a certain kind of equipment you probably need to get used to that type of equipment and stay away from the other stuff.

Myself, for example, I use a double denim shirt, and I have become so spoiled to it, that I cannot imagine a scenario where I would go back to single ply or poly. If that is all that is allowed, I would just rather not lift there. Also, a lot of the single ply poly only organizations are drug tested, and some require that you be clean for a certain period of time before lifting in one of there meets, so check into the rules where you want to lift.

Good luck buddy. Hope this helps.
