Suggestion for FINA users

All, for those converting their own fina ... I have found this to be useful and very helpful to save time.

Buy 2-3 ADDITIONAL .45 u syringe filters from getpinz.com or your favorite source. This may cost you $12 or so extra but is worth it.

1) use three or four syringes (3cc inject kinds) and remove 4, 2cc aliquots into these syringes from vial 2 for later use.

I have found that after you add the pellets to the magic solution, have dissolved them and added the sterile oil in #2 begin the final filtration step.

I have found that the filters tend to clog up a lot after 12 cc or so ...

2) Filter 12 cc or until it slows down because of clogging with the cellulose/binders.

3) remove and attach one of the 2cc sterile filter syringes and run this through the filter.

4) throw away your sterile filter .45u and reattach a second one, use the 10 cc syringe and run another 12 cc or so thru ..

5) simply repeat the previous steps. This rapidly increases the wait time of filtering and much hand throbbing.

Oh yeah ... inject your fina when done

you can get away with one filter for the one cart kit. But for 2 carts, you definately need another filter. Mine clogged about half way through.

You need to let the particals settle out a bit more before going to the filter.

They settled, many are still 'suspended' in the general solution though.

I have no problem with getting 40 mls through one filter.
I also prefilter with a coffee filter.
I ran into a problem with my very first batch, and will never make it again without this step.

Good info, man. I already ordered and got 2 extra filters for a 4g kit. Do you think filling up the 5cc syringe w/oil for flushing will be enough to flush all 3 filters? That's about 1.5cc for each filter. Can you tell the difference (in color) between the plain oil and oil w/ tren? I don't wanna lose any good stuff.

I agree with Bass on this one.....ALWAYS USE A COFFEE FILTER...The one hour rule is bullshit

imo, i just dont like using a coffee filter, seems to unsterile to me ... but that is just me. I would use some of the syringes you bought from getpinz.com etc and suck up 2cc into each one of those for every additional filter you want to use (i suggest 3 for 4g kit)

The sterilization process begins when you filter through the syringe filter. Coffee filter to remove the methylcellulose so that the syringe filter doesn't clog up. Place vial in 160 deg water for 15-30 minutes to pastuerize it.

the .45 u filter doesnt remove all bugs ... mycoplasma and smaller mycobacterium pass through. .45 u was the standard in microbiology for sterile filtration for a while until they found it doesnt work as well, not .22 u is the standard. although this is only for aqueous solutions and mycoplasma still passes through...I want mine to be as sterile as possible im not gonna chance it and leave it all up the .45 u filter.
