For whatever reason dumbell shoulder presses or military presses cause tons of crackle and pop and pain in my shoulders..that is the only lifts I just can't do! Fustrating!!

AND, what I need to build the most are my narrow f-ing shoulders! :(

I've been doing upright rows and front delt raises..

What else is there???

does this occur after your shoulders are warmed up? i know mine like to feel/sound strange some days if i havent loosened up at all.. ill take a 2.5-5lb plate and do windmills for a little bit and then it goes away.. dont know if this would work for you but it might

are you starting with them?
are you stretching?
warming up?

front raises and upright rows won't get you big and / or give you the "square" look...you need presses...heavy fuckin presses

does it actually cause you discomfort or just make noise? IMO just do heavy military presses and deal with it unless you are in pain and are causing more damage

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the upright rows are actually what's causing the problem. You'll also want to carefully examine your technique on those presses. In the meantime, I'd recommend switching to closed-chain work (hands stationary, body moving), as it's much better for shoulder health.

I have severe pain in my shoulders when doing presses also. I have now switched and are doing the Hammer Strength shoulder press and it doesnt hardly hurt at all. I can even go up to 4 plates per side without much pain at all. You should try that if your gym has Hammer Strength equip.

When I started doing shoulder presses I stretched and warmed up by starting light and working my way up in weight. Actually, it is just my left shoulder that hurts.

I understand weight lifting is stressful on bones and joints and have lifted through mild pain. This pain is severe enough to prevent me from being able to lift the weight..

Not so sure if the upright rows are causing the pain becuase there is no pain at all in my shoulder while doing that lift.

Ill look into the "closed-chain" type workout for shoulders..thanks
