1) Student > Teacher > Style . The most Important Factor is you , and how hard you work . The second is your Teacher and the quality of Instruction youre being Given - Remember , being able to FIGHT and being able to TEACH OTHERS to Fight are 2 different Skillsets . The only style considerations that MATTER really come back to the "You" category because whats most Important s why you want the MA ?
a) Discipline and/or Spiritual Enlightenment ?
b) Sport Competition ?
c) Real-World Self Defense ?
d) Cultural Awareness for a certain Heritage ?
2) No one can make a School of a particular style be where one isnt .
3) Its better to go to a Good school of the "Wrong Style" than a Crap school of the style that sounds most Idyllic to you .
4) Styles usually fall into a few Types :
Striking : Boxing , Muay Thai , Karate , Savate Taekwondo
Grappling : Wrestling , Judo , Sambo , Brazilian Jujitsu , Aikido
Striking with Standing Grappling/Throws/Slams : Most Chinese Martial Arts that still exist , Capoeira , Japanese Jujitsu
