Stuck in a rut

Assertive Guy

Just a begginer...

I've been training for 7 years now, and been stuck in a rut for around the last 5. Im not very strong but can get good illusional strength gains from a 5*5 type method.

My problem is, I can get stronger but not build any muscle. I cant get bigger either. All I can seem to do is so 10 reps with lighter weights or increase the wieghts and decrease the reps (what Im meaning by a strength gain).

Does anyone have some good solid advice without juicing for gaining muscle mass and *real* strength. I've tried allot of the traditional methods these last 7 years and the gains are illusive.

Thanks.

You're not growing because you're not eating enough.

Try a low-volume approach, like DC style training. Check the sticky at the top of this board titled "Training Methods and Exercise Descriptions". Check the link leading to "DC Training". Read up. It's a lot to read, but well worth it.

Eating is the main factor. You have to eat ALOT. Force feed. Make sure your atleast getting your bodyweight in grams of protein each day and more then enough calories to maintain your BW. A 1,000 calories over maintenance should help you gain, if your consistent with it. If your doing 5x5 and it hasnt worked, Id reccomend atleast twice the volume, and reps within the 10-12 range for growth. For legs and back 15 reps.Since low reps havent worked to well for you. All sets to failure. This has always worked real well for me.Experimentation is the key. JMO
