Strongman diets...

just wondering what kind of equation you use to determine caloric intake while doing strongman style events. protein/carb/fat ratios would help also.

During a contest/training or just in general???

training in general. i dont wanna pack on a crapload of fat if that is avoidable. i want a good, semi-lean diet that will help with energy. i usually get 4 hours of sleep a night so i need as much energy as possible.

It all depends on your training. A BIG part of being succesfull at Strongman training is being able to fully recover. You MUST eat, sleep, and train properly.

If you are training properly...you are NOT going to pack on a crap load of fat. This isn't powerlifting where you tend to not work on cardio capacity at all. If you are doing the gym lifts AND the events and staying in cardio shape...you are NOT going to get fat. You will need the extra kcals.

Standard things:
Prot: 1g per pound of lean body mass...or more
Carbs: 2g per pound of lean body mass or more
Fat: whatever you want/need

Those are the minimum IMO. The more you train the more that you need to eat.

I would start with :

15-20 times your lean body weight
(220lbs with 10% BF => LBM#200lbs => 3000 to 4000 calories)

40/40/20 Prot/carbs/fat
