Strongest Athletes

Out of the NBA, NFL (excluding linemen), MLB, and NHL... who is the strongest athlete? My vote goes to either Ben Wallace, Jevon Kearse, Shaq, or Ray Lewis

hmmm lemme see -

Adam Archuleta at 6 foot 210-215lbs, can bench 530lbs and squat 663, powerclean 315+ .....

that's freaking strong, not only that - he does these numbers under 1.5 secs on the concentric. Power.

I just orderd a video from his website. Really good stuff and challenging. I'll be spreading the word around shortly :)

In the meantime. Look up as much info on him as you can. His training is awesome.

Overall I would have to chose football players for strength, Hockeys players for recovery time and toughness, soccar players & swimmers for overall endurance.

As for the strongest ray lewis or urlacher.

Yeah, I agree with the triathletes for endurance.
Toughness has to go to hockey players though. Ya gotta have respect for anyone who gets 20 stitches under his eye in between shifts or gets 4 teeth knocked out.

hockey players are though but that is nothing compared to the amount of will it takes to stand and fight while being kicked and/or punched by strong and skillful fighters over and over again. Toughness EASILY goes to the boxers.

The strongest i would have to say are in Boxing, Football, and wrestling if you conmsider that a real sport.
From boxing i would have to say Tyson.
Football is easily Adam Archuleta for overall strength.
Baseball would be Jason Giambi.
Wrestling... Brock Lesnar, Scott Steiner, HHH... hard to tell.

Wrestling...Brock would prob be the strongest considering his background...he doesn;t seem to be as much as a BB as the other two...Maybe...He's just a freak...

True but boxers fight what 2 fights a year and one guy at a time.
Hockey players have to constantly keep their heads up for a 82 game schedule plus a 4 round playoff series. And nothing is more physical than NHL playoffs. Take a look at their faces at the end of the series, they look like boxers.

Just my opinion:D

Often true but what do you think they do inbetween those fights? The training that alot of pro boxers put themselves through is absolute hell and most will do alot of practice matches.

sports

This is kind of off the topic but I have to say it. I don't think that basketball players fit the mold of strongest or having the most endurance. However I think that they combine both traits and are overall the best athletes in the world. I mean look at Ben Wallace, he's 6'10 can probably jump at least 32in, is strong as an ox, and has unbelieveable endurance. I can name example after example, but basketball players are the best athletes of any sport.

Fuck no!

basketball players have great cordnation, and quickness but no were near the strength, speed, and endurance of many other sports.

There shouldnt be a doubt that NFL players are the strongest.
Larry Allen Offensive Tackle for Dallas Cowboys, bench presses near 700 pounds. 95% of NFL lineman Def. and Off. (which makes up around 40%+ of the total NFL rosters) bench 400+ and squat 500+ pounds.

Football players are the biggest, strongest and fastest athletes in the world. As far as toughness goes, hockey players play with flesh wounds, football players play with broken bones, torn ligaments and muscles, get shot up with more pain killers and joint freezers just so they can go out on the field. I'm not saying hockey players aren't tough. But John Hannah played the last 10 years of his career with no ACL in either of his knees. That's not normal.

i dont care who the fuck it is mike tyson could kick the shitt out of any one in a real street fight anyonE. YEah im sure if i wasnt mentally ready to fight id loose to but look at him in the 80's DAMN

Football players have more than short bursts of power, they have to go all out on every play, running, swim moves, spins, scratching, fighting, punching, diving, running some more then huddle for a few seconds and do it again 50 -60 times a game...they do have remarkable endurance as well as power and agility. A big part of the season is in August training out doors 2 and some times 3 a days then into Sept and October (where in Texas it is still 95-100degrees).

My point? To say football players only have short bursts of power is not accurate, and would only be stated by someone who never played football @ higher levels (college or pro).

Strongest Sports Players? FOOTBALL
Toughest Players? FOOTBALL/HOCKEY
Endurance? SOCCER / CYCLIST i.e. L. Armstrong

I dunno if i would say jeavon kearse as one of the strongest...Dont get me wrong, hes an incredible athlete, but not that strong. In the ultimate defender contest, he couldnt even incline the starting weight of 275 lbs. I would say maybe Larry Allen who was benching over 700 in 2000, or La'Roi Glover who was inclining 400 at the Ultimate defender contest as well. In a street fight, i would put maybe Tito Ortiz or one of those guys from UFC, against Tyson anyday, because all they have todo is take him down, and hed be done...Its that simple.

This entire discusion is pointless. Impossible to say. What does the strongest mean???? no one knows, and it's the result. Not how much you can lift. Who wants to get into a pissing contest...

I am surprised that nobody has voted for Powerlifters. Those dudes that can snatch 400+ get my vote. Your not going to see guys in the NFL do that much. Why, because it would be pointless for them to work on there technique for snatch when they are working on other shit.

Magnus Vermagnison gets my vote for the Strongest Man!

A lot of you cannot even come close to realizing the endurance, strength, and will power it requires to be a good boxer. Football is a slow jog around the neighborhood compared to boxing. I played football for 5 yrs, and have boxed for 6. There is NO comparison....No flames, JMO

josh

PS-From what I have read, Shaq can bench over 500 lbs without trouble. Shannon Sharpe is also real strong considering he's an offensive back. Jesse Tuggle was benching over 550 lbs at the highlight of his career.

anyone know who donald (or earl , i forget...sorry) boykin is...he's this little fucker in the nba(either golden state or the nuggets)...he's like 5'8 170 pounds...he makes iverson look big...he's not even muscular at all...and he benches 400lbs pretty easily! thats just freaky genetics

Put a tyson in the ring with ray lewis and watch tyson get his ears bitten off. Condition wise boxers are better than many athletes but they'll never be as strong as football players.

this stupid comment always comes up. impossibe to compare.. remember the old superstars competition? trying to find the best athlete out of all the best specialized athletes? track and field guys always won it, or a few other times a soccer player or a race car driver. one time wayne grimdage won it... a water skier. lots of studs out there..
one event, the weightlifting, the athletes walked up to a bar with the weights on it at shoulder height, the athletes picked up the weight and tried to pushpress it overhead.. the record was 280# by carl eller of the minnesota vikings. brian oldfield walked up to the bar, asked what the record was, was told 280#'s. he said put on 300#'s. everybody looked at him like he was nuts. then he did it 5 times.. amazing.
i say pound for pound, a gymnast is the strongest. try working out on a pommell horse.. parallel bars?? still rings?? those guys are unreal..
strongest.. probably the strongest strongman.
toughest? who knows..
best endurance. probably a road cyclist
triathletes, good, but not great. they ride tempo.. not all out like in a cycle race. top tri guys run a 2:40 marathon. hard tempo compared to a regular marathoner at 2:09 or below
cycling you race for 5-6 hours, constantly going very hard to all out.
every pro, in their specific sport, in their own way is super strong and tough.
